Q: Hello, My company recently decided to change its license from DMCC to LLC. As such, with our visa renewals, we are now all applying for NEW visas. For me, this is fine, however, my colleagues sponsor their wives and children and now have to pay for the visas to be put on hold/canceled whilst the new visa is applied for. Is the company responsible for these costs due to their choice to change the legality of the license, or does the employee have to pay these costs, despite it not being in their knowledge that the trade license would change?

Q: I have just left my previous company as I was owed around 10 months of salary across the past 18 months. I had worked there for over 10 years. They now want me to sign a settlement that forgoes my claim to gratuity and any salary not paid last year. Instead, they will pay me over the next 10 months 10k per month plus a 50k 'thank you'. After doing some investigation I have discovered that their trade license expired in November 2020. Will I be able to make any claim against them as they don't have a valid trade license? Also, the owner is currently in the UK and I have no idea if he plans to return. The company was in a torrid state when I left in terms of their finances. Hence I was thinking of getting what I could from them as I don't believe there are any assets worth selling as it's a service industry and that any hope of getting what I'm due seems unlikely. Advice?

Q: I have opened an execution file on 6 September 2020 against my company after 11 months of a case. They didn’t pay my final settlement, my court judgement was declared in January 2020. I visited Al Adheed Center last month and they sent some requests to the court in which they demanded on my behalf license suspension and some similar charges. But I came to know that my company owners have changed their license and they didn’t renew the old license, which means whatever Al Adheed Center requested on my behalf to the court and whatever decisions the court is taking was on the expired old license. Please, can anyone tell me whether the old license is still effective or not because I’m still on my company’s old license visa? What’s the next procedure?

Q: I have a 2-year valid visa but my company did not renew its license. Can I still travel outside the country and come back after 3 months? Will there be any issue to come back or have a problem with immigration?

Q: Good afternoon I’ve been trying to make a visa for my maid for several months as I have fallen victim to fraud on an online website claiming to be Amer. It’s been several months and I’m trying to remove absconding now as she has overstayed. The company that has put absconding on her visa is located in Abu Dhabi. The law promulgates UAE Civil Procedures Code (Civil Procedure Law) which governs civil procedures in the United Arab Emirates, including the prosecution before the courts, litigation and execution.

The provisions of this Decree-Law, known as "New UAE Labor Law", govern labour relations in the private sector of the United Arab Emirates. The New Labor Law repeals the previous UAE Labor Law (Federal Law No. (8) of 1980).
