Probation of 6 months and termination for non-performance

I was hired by my employer on the 7th of January as a manager in Bahrain. The contract/job offer had mentioned a probation period of 6 months.

Now, for some reason, I was informed by my boss and the HR dept that I am terminated due to non-performance.

Is the clause of 6 months probation proper?

Hi,

There is a clause in Labor law which allows the probation to be extended up to 6 months, but it has to be approved by the Labor Ministry.

The law says "However, a probationary period may be increased up to a maximum of six months in respect of the occupations to be determined by a resolution of the Minister. The probationary period shall not be recognized unless expressly provided for in the contract of employment."

So you need to check with the Labor Ministry.
