Dear questioner,

Since January 2, 2022, the dishonor of a cheque on grounds of insufficient funds in the bank account of the payor is no more a criminal offense in the UAE.

The law de-criminalizes bounced cheques – except in specific cases related to forgery, "stop payment" instructions, etc.
