How to settle a case with the bank after defaulting on payment due to COVID-19

0
Q: Hi
I hope someone can help me with a solution to this current situation.
I borrowed a personal loan of AED 260,000 from a bank. I already paid 24 months instalments. In the month of April 2020, I lost my job due to COVID-19 and the bank has given me a 3 months payment holiday.
However, my employer has cancelled my visa and I had to fly back to my home country.
I have informed the bank about my current situation and even requested them to grant me a few months of payment holiday until I can find a new job.
Also, I have other credit card liabilities I wasn't able to pay consistently since I am having financial issues.
Recently, I found that the bank has presented my cheque for AED 260,000/- and it got bounced. Now, there is an active criminal case against me for my personal loan.
Currently, I am unemployed and also I have very little savings left. Even If I get a job in the UAE in future, can I travel to the UAE?
Please advise me on how I can resolve this issue.

How to check if the bank filed a case against me before leaving the UAE?

2
Q: I lost my job and since then, I haven't been successful to get hired in the UAE. Fortunately, I got a job back home, starting date at beginning of May.
I have a bank loan with a bank that I couldn't close in full before leaving the UAE. My end of service would be used as a partial payment of the loan but the remaining balance will be over 200K.
I aim to reach a new agreement with the bank, having a lower monthly instalment and longer loan period, being paid from my home country.
I need an advice how to proceed on this matter in order to be able to leave the UAE at the end of April without being stopped at the border and reach an agreement with the bank from outside the UAE to pay the loan from my home country.
The answer time from the bank is very slow.
Thank you

Getting a job offer in the UAE while there is unpaid bank loan

2
Q: Hello,
I have unpaid dues on a credit card with one bank (approximately 7000 AED) and a loan with another bank (approximately 28000 AED). Due to the pandemic, unfortunately, I was terminated from my work and thus had to return to my home country.
I’m behind on payments for over 1 year to date.
I’ve been born and raised in Dubai and would never want to have such a situation held in UAE, thus I’m willing to return back and pay everything within the least possible time.
(I have a job offer with enough salary offered to settle dues within the least months).
I would like to know if there is a chance that either of the banks may impose a travel ban on me.

Returning to the UAE while there was unpaid loan in 2010

2
Q: Hi!
I have a brother who has an unpaid loan way back in 2010. Now he wants to return here to the UAE.
How can we settle it knowing that the bank had merged with another bank? And how can we check if there is still a case filed under his name?
Thanks in advance!

Returning to the UAE while the settlement offer is rejected by the bank

1
Q: Hello,
I was living in Abu Dhabi for 5 years and I was made redundant by my company in the Covid-19 crisis in May 2019. I had no choice but to leave the country as I was not able to find another job during the period of 1 month that my residence visa was still valid.
I had a loan with an outstanding amount of around 300.000 AED that I could not repay. I was contacted by many debt collectors to repay, and I showed good intention and offered to pay small amounts on monthly basis from my country of residence as the salary averages were much lower than those in the UAE.
My offers however were rejected. Assuming that I would like to travel back to the UAE and find a job, what should I expect after the legal changes that occurred at the beginning of 2022? am I to serve any jail time, or will there be any fine of any kind?
And how long is the period for such cases to be written off if that is a possibility?
Thank you for your time!

How can I check and settle unpaid loan and credit card cases before returning to the UAE?

Q: I have a loan and credit card payment against a bank.
As I had to go back to my home country and couldn't go back to work for 5 months, I lost my job, hence I couldn't pay back the balance amount.
Now I want to go back to the UAE and get a job and would like to pay back the loan. What are the legal consequences I have to face?
Is it possible to go back to the UAE?

Can the bank file a case against me for my obligation after merging with another bank?

Q: Can the bank file a case against me for my bank obligation?
I issued a cheque to the bank before but I was not able to pay it completely since I lost my job.
Can the bank sue me for this even if they have merged with another bank?
Please advise.

If someone has a case in the UAE, can they travel to another GCC country? 0
Hi.
One of my friends joined a Telegram group. They said, "We will transfer some amount to your account, and your task is to transfer this amount to another account. Once the task is completed, you will get 30 or 50 AED per task."
He completed 3 to 4 tasks, but he realized it was not good, so he stopped. After one week, when he opened his account, it was blocked, and the bank said, "We are conducting an investigation; after this, we will let you know."
After some days, he had an accident and went to his home country. He then received a call from a landline number, which was from the Abu Dhabi police station.
They said, "We have received a complaint against you; come to our investigation department." However, due to his surgery and treatment, he could not go.
After some time, his bank account was reopened, and he did not receive any further calls. I want to know, if he comes back to the UAE or goes to any other GCC country, will he face any problems?
If someone has a case in the UAE, can they travel to another GCC country?
Please advise!

I currently live in Sharjah and have a UAE residence visa but I am not a UAE or GCC national. I want to open an online shop (Etsy or Shopify) to sell handmade items, such as crocheted goods, bookmarks, greeting cards, etc.
Do I need a license to open an Etsy shop?
If so, which license do I need to sell my products online, including UAE and worldwide?
How much would it cost me?

How can we locate a person with an ongoing legal case? 0
Hello,
I am seeking your legal advice regarding a friend who was previously imprisoned in Abu Dhabi. His case there is now closed, but he has another ongoing case in Dubai.
Currently, we have lost contact with him and are unsure of his whereabouts. How can we check where he is or access any other legal facility?
Are there legal procedures to locate a person with an ongoing case?
What steps should we take to get more information about his status and legal position?
