How to check if the bank filed a case against me before leaving the UAE?

I lost my job and since then, I haven't been successful to get hired in the UAE. Fortunately, I got a job back home, starting date at beginning of May.

I have a bank loan with a bank that I couldn't close in full before leaving the UAE. My end of service would be used as a partial payment of the loan but the remaining balance will be over 200K.

I aim to reach a new agreement with the bank, having a lower monthly instalment and longer loan period, being paid from my home country.

I need an advice how to proceed on this matter in order to be able to leave the UAE at the end of April without being stopped at the border and reach an agreement with the bank from outside the UAE to pay the loan from my home country.

The answer time from the bank is very slow.

Thank you

Hi Sir,

Regarding your inquiry, we can settle your matter with the bank as soon as possible. For that, we need you to assign us a power of attorney so that we can deal with the bank on your behalf.

For more details, please contact us on call.

Kind regards

Dear Questioner,

Your matter depends on whether the bank has started legal procedures or not yet. We advise that you provide the bank with enough securities or negotiate a settlement.

Dear Questioner,

I'm a UAE based lawyer working here since 2008 and advised and assisted several clients on matters relating to their banking loans, labour disputes... etc.

The bank normally gets the guarantee cheques and sign the agreements to protect their legal interests before issuing the loans... etc.

I'm not sure at what level of your settlement with the bank you are standing now or if you have paid any instalments and what is the current balance... etc.

Of course, we may use your current unemployment as a ground as per the applicable labour and COVID-19 backed laws, but you are advised to collaborate with them and try to find the legal settlement.

You may check online if any criminal case is filed against you as of today and can also find the solution to resolve it; that also depends on the volume of your loan amount.

Please also note that the bank reserves the right to initiate a civil case against you. You may issue a valid POA to your lawyer before you leave to take care of your legal matters.

Please feel free to contact me in case you need more clarification or assistance.
