Q: Hello Experts,
I need your kind advice regarding my loan.
I had a loan of 250k and a credit card of 13k with a bank. When I left the UAE in March-20, my cumulative outstanding of both was 160k. Since then, I'm in Pakistan and hasn't come back to the UAE
The bank has bounced security cheques and filed criminal cases. Now I have a job offer from Dubai and they already applied for my employment visa.
Meanwhile, I'm negotiating with the bank for a one-shot settlement over the telephone. They are asking me to pay 112k one payment for the full and final settlement of both liabilities.
They have waived off all the interest and just asking the principal amount in this way.
Please advise if 112k is a good deal considering the situation or I should have to get more discount.
Also, advise how should I go forward with them (they said, they'll issue a settlement letter/new offer letter, after which I'll submit the payment and then within 2 weeks they'll withdraw the criminal case).

Defaulting on the payment of a loan EMI and legal consequences
1
Q: Dear Mr Hari,
Good day.
I took a loan from a bank one year back for AED 64,000 and now I have an outstanding amount of AED 48,500 which I am now unable to pay due to the loss of employment.
I have also missed 1 EMI until now and have not paid this EMI for the past 3 months, however, I somehow managed to pay all the EMIs until now but I am unable to pay any further.
Kindly let me know if the bank can file a criminal case against me or there are any new UAE rules according to which I only have to pay a certain fine.
Also, as I lost my job recently I am on a visit visa. Kindly let me know if I will be facing a travel ban if I don't pay? How to deal with the situation?

Returning to the UAE on a visit visa while bounced cheques are pending
1
Q: Dear sir/madam,
I had 2 cheque bounce cases in the UAE; one in Sharjah and another in Abu Dhabi. The Sharjah case went to court and the judge gave me a 10k AED fine. I paid the fine and the case was closed.
The Abu Dhabi case was pending and now due to the new amendment in law, this case is also closed without any fine. Now I want to travel to the UAE on a visit visa, to see if I can find a job or set up a small business and start my life altogether.
I have heard that once I enter the UAE, the bank will get to know the same and they will file a civil case and impose a travel ban. Once entered, I will not be able to get out till I clear the payment with the bank.
I am ready to have a negotiation with the bank and make the repayment in installment but I don't want to be stuck in the UAE with a travel ban.
Please advise on this. Also, I want to check my immigration status - if my travel bans by the cheque bounce cases issued earlier are cleared.

In the UAE, cheque bounce is a very frequent problem faced by people during their span in the country. It is covered under the purview of Commercial Transactions Law, and legal implications/penalties can be financially severe and daunting for more “serious” offenses. Bounced cheque issues may arise in a variety of commercial transactions, including but not limited to, companies’ exchanges, bank loans, property rents or purchases, and individual transactions.

How can I reach a settlement for unpaid rent with the landlord to lift the travel ban? 0
Greetings,
I have a rental case opened against me due to failed rent payments and bounced cheques with the flat since August 2021 based on failed business.
I had received a court order and a fixed amount to pay the amount in 5 installments. After that, I lost my job.
And after contacting a typing center on my rental dispute case, I learned I have a travel ban and an arrest warrant.
Even though I had the intention to pay, I had gone to the management with half the amount earlier before the enforcement case was opened and they refused negotiation.
Until now, I haven't been able to secure a job because I can't get a cancellation from my previous company and I don't have better means to pay the initial amount requested for the first installment.
Please, what can I do to at least get my name off the system to find a new job?
And how much out of AED 35,000 must I fulfill to lift the ban or arrest warrant while I settle the balance instrumentally?
Thanks.

The right response to the wife who is refusing to be with the husband 0
Hello/Salam
I am a British citizen with a UK passport and married a UAE resident with a Pakistani passport in March 2020. Due to Covid restrictions, I could not see my wife until travel re-opened.
At this time, I tried to apply for a UK spouse visa for my wife, but it was not approved on Jan 21. I then waited for things to re-open and visited my wife on Nov 21 and decided to move ahead with our Rukhsati and Walima in Jan 2022.
I then applied for her UK visit visa, but again it was not approved. I then traveled to Dubai in Mar 2022 to live in Dubai with my wife, but she did not see me, has not responded to my messages or calls, and blocked me on social media.
I was able to see her family but they were very disrespectful to me and threw me out of their house. I have returned to the UK now.
What can I do to approach the UAE authorities that my wife's family has defrauded me, taken all the gifts and gold, and are now ignoring us?
Please advise what can I do to save my marriage?
Thanks/Jzk
