My landlord is insisting on putting a new line in the addendum stating that the contract is not renewable.

Yes, it can be if both parties have agreed so, or else, it could be added as per the law with a prior three months notice.

As such, the contract is not subject to renewal only if you sent him a renewal notice 3 months prior to the end of the contract.
