Q: Dear Lawyer, A company in Jebel Ali filed a case of fraud at Police station. The company asked me to pay a certain amount after adjusting against my final dues. I paid and cleared. Later on, they started blackmailing me by asking me to pay the legal costs incurred by the company. Then I complained to the Ministry of Labor saying that my passport is held by the employer. Now the Police station has transferred the case to the public prosecutor along with my passport on 10th of April. I need to know how long will it take for the hearing to happen (waiting for the call from the Dubai Court) and secondly can the employer withdraw the case when it is with public prosecution? Q: There was a criminal complaint made against me and my husband and both of our passports were held by the public prosecution. After 8 months of investigations, the public prosecution has now only charged my husband and has released my passport. Can I open a case against the complainant for the harassment that I faced for 8 long months and mental trauma that I went through? My request for releasing my passport by substituting someone else's was also rejected 4 times without giving any reason within this period and I could not travel even though my child and my mom were unwell.

Q: Dear Sir/Madam, My friend is a married woman and an expert in the UAE. She had an affair with a man, and someone found out about it. This person is blackmailing her by threatening to tell her husband, but is not asking for money. If my friend goes to the police about the blackmailer, can she be arrested for adultery as a backlash?
