Q: Hi Hari
D. is here once more. I believe you remember we spoke last week regarding a bounced cheque.
I have changed my job and will be starting my new role tomorrow. My credit card settlements will be due at the end of this month.
My current employer pays salaries on the 15th of each month hence I will only be able to settle my card payments around that time. Previously, I used to get paid on 28th of the month.
I just want to get your opinion if it will be advisable for me to inform the banks accordingly so that they can reschedule my card payment plans and I do not default in the future.
They will be expecting payments at the end of June, but I won't get paid until July 15th.
Thank you for your usual support.

Consequences of defaulting on bank loans due to salary delay

Q: I have a bank loan and credit card loan with 3 banks. As I am not receiving my salary of 4 months, what I have to do?
From the company side, I can't do anything. They will pay later but not immediately. I will wait till that. What I have to do for loan repayment and credit card payments?
If they go legal, what I have to do?
If I didn't pay, is it possible to waive it off?

Fine payment and further liabilities related to cheque bounce cases

Q: Hi Mam, I need clarification. I had a credit card loan which I was remitting though not on a regular basis due to salary delay.
However, while I was travelling on emergency leave to attend my grandma's funeral last year, I was denied of travelling saying that there is a bounced cheque by the bank and thereafter was imprisoned for a day.
The very next day I was released after paying an amount of AED 4950/- and the officer said that I need not have to pay anything further. The bounced cheque was for 60000/- and my total dues at that time were only about 15000/-.
Now after almost a year, I received some calls from their collection department and they have sent a mail saying that my dues are now about 39,000/- and cautioned me not to travel.
As I am planning to travel during the 1st week of May '19, I would like to know your valuable advice as to whether there will be a ban on me again.
Appreciate & eagerly awaiting your valuable advice.
Thank you,
G. N.

Terminated for performance issues without prior warning while on vacation. What should I do? 0
Hello Sir,
I am facing an issue with my employer. I work in the private sector in the UAE, and my employment visa expires in June 2025.
After two years, I traveled to my home country for vacation, and one week after my arrival, the company sent me an email terminating my employment due to performance issues.
However, I was never given any prior warning or written notice. The termination email also did not mention any notice period or other details.
I would like to know my rights and what I should do in this situation.

Bank filed a civil case over a loan: Better to settle with the bank or in court? 0
Good day, Sir,
I have received a message from the Dubai Court stating that a bank has filed a civil case against me. The loan has been pending since February 2019.
I cleared the cheque bounce case earlier with a court fine in 2019. I am looking forward to a minimum settlement plan with the bank. The outstanding amount was around 70,000 AED, and now the message is for 115,000 AED.
What will be the best way for me to proceed: approaching the bank or dealing with it in court?
Best regards,

Is it legal for my employer to withhold my salary until I leave the country or change status? 0
Hello,
I have given my notice, and my last day is July 24, but the employer is refusing to pay my salary; even the salary for June. Is this even legal?
He claims I'll get everything at once, which is after leaving the country or changing status.

Demanding that an employee pay for visa charges a year after resigning 0
Dear Lawyers,
I worked at a bakeshop here in Dubai. I resigned exactly one year ago. Now they want me to pay for visa charges, as stated in the offer letter.
If I cannot pay for the charges, my employer will claim financial loss due to the damages, estimated to be at least 7,000 AED.
What should I do about this? My monthly salary is only 2,800 AED.
