The landlord is not giving back the security deposit. What to do?

Dear sir,

I have moved out of a flat after giving a notice. I handed over the keys in advance (1 day) of the lease period.

My landlord is not giving me my 5,000AED security deposit after many reminders. The owner is a local. There is one PRO who keeps on changing words

What action can I take to get my money back?

Kindly help!

Dear questioner,

If you left the unit in a satisfactory condition as when the unit was handed over to you and you provided the landlord with all the necessary receipts of all paid bills, he is obliged to refund the security deposit.

If he fails to do that, we can serve him with a legal notice.

Considering the amount you need to recover, I would not recommend you to file a lawsuit against him, because it will not make economical sense for you (you will have to pay court fees, translation fees, lawyers fees).

If you wish to proceed with the legal notice, please approach me via email!

Best Regards,

Raluca Gatina

In such a case, you can directly register a case against the landlord with the RDC if this dispute was in Dubai.
