The effect of an outstanding credit card loan on the issuance of a new work visa

Hi Maam,

Good day!

My bank emailed me that they filed a civil case against me since I have not paid my credit card amount 50,000 AED for almost 8 months now.

I lost my job due to COVID 19, I am totally broke. Now my question is:

I finally found a new job, they are working on my employment visa but I am very anxious; thinking that this pending case against me may affect my employment visa application! Will this be a reason for future visa rejection?

Please enlighten me!

Dear Sir/Madam,

Many thanks for your inquiry!

If the bank has commenced a civil case, most likely a criminal case would have been started as well or in the process. Both are likely to affect your visa application.

My advice is that you contact your bank immediately, advise the bank you have now found a new job and wish to enter into discussions with them for an installment payment plan for loan settlement.

This will show goodwill on your part and the bank may decide to withdraw the court action and other actions or indicate the court that an arrangement is in place.

Please call if you wish to discuss this matter further.

You may reach me via phone.

Many Thanks!
