Filing divorce for expatriates and transferring to work visa
I am a British expatriate living and working in the UAE. Unfortunately, my marriage to my husband has broken down and we want to separate and divorce.
We have a 14-year-old daughter. I work full time but I am on my husband's visa, I’m not sure if I can be put into my work's visa and get housing.
I am really worried that I will end up having to leave the UAE and my daughter. Can I please get some advice on my legal rights. I just don’t know who to ask for advice and help.
Thank you

Hello,
As per your query, is your marriage as per Sharia law or Christian marriage?
If it is a non-muslim marriage then the divorce can be filed as per UAE Personal Status Law and husband is liable to pay compensation.
However, you can also apply the UK family law act, for compensation which can be filed in Dubai and can be as per UK laws or an agreement can be made between the parties in order to get the compensation...etc.
It will depend upon your situation and circumstances. For the visa purposes, it will be solved once the case has been filed in personal status court in the UAE.
Please contact us by phone or email for further information.

Dear Client,
Good day!
Thank you for referring the matter to us.
Since both of you agreed for divorce, we can do a mutual divorce wherein a mutual separation agreement will be signed by both parties.
We will include your terms and conditions such as custody, visitation rights, division of assets...etc.
For your Visa, yes, you can transfer your visa from your husband's sponsorship to employment visa.
Kindly send us your documents and we can arrange a meeting/call with you to confirm our course of action.
Please feel free to contact us by phone or send an email.
Thank you.
