The consequences of giving birth in the UAE without marriage

I am an ex-pat. I got pregnant outside of marriage and I want to have the baby in Dubai.

I cannot go back to the UK. Will I be able to obtain a birth certificate for my child if it is born here?

Hi,

I think you are not aware of the UAE laws. It's illegal and a criminal act to make consensual physical relationship without a valid marriage with anyone. You both can be detained and deported for this act.

Therefore, be cautious, as you mentioned that you are pregnant so you can be in a problem if you give childbirth without a legitimate marriage.

The birth certificate will be issued by the authority if the birth of a child happens here, but you may probably be prosecuted also.

Please read the specific Article of Penal code:

Article 356: “Without prejudice to two preceding articles, the crime of voluntary debasement shall be penalized by detention for a minimum term of one year, but if the said crime is perpetrated on a male or female below fourteen years of age or if committed by coercion, the penalty shall be term imprisonment.”

You may contact me directly via phone or email for further consultation.

It is suggested to deliver your child outside of UAE, as here you will face legal issues and Birth Certificate for your new born also will be an issue.
