Paying the amount of a bounced cheque to avoid consequences
1
Q: I am Ravi, doing business in Ajman.
I had to come to India on an emergency by Aug 18. Unfortunately, there was a cheque of AED 120K issued to one of the suppliers [in Sharjah] and it got bounced.
I have personally called and informed them, upon reaching back I will give the money.
They are not accepting my request and started threatening my son who's living alone in the UAE.
He's calling me to India saying that they will put me in a UAE jail [in case I am there] and they are going to file a new case in India to stop me from travelling to the UAE.
Now, they're demanding me to pay AED 140K, otherwise, they will not withdraw the case against me.
If I arrange AED 90K now & surrender the passport, will the police allow me to go out to arrange the balance amount?
In case I could arrange the full amount of AED 120K will they release me?
Any possibility to clear it off without arresting me?
If I arrive at Dubai Airport, will I be shifted to Sharjah? Or Ajman?
Please advise how to resolve this.

How to request settlement before the conclusion of court proceedings

0
Q: Is there a method for a litigant to make a settlement offer during the middle of litigation?
I have a lawsuit that has entered into appeal stage. The opponent informed me that he wishes to make a settlement offer.
Can this be done via the court or is it out of court settlement?
If via the court, please guide me on the procedure to show the court the settlement offer and get it approved and made into an Executive Writ.

Cheques issued for the benefit of a friend who stops paying his loan
1
Q: Hi there,
Last year in January, one of my friends asked me to give cheques to him to buy a flat on rent and he gave me the reason that he is having bank issues that's why he cannot use his cheques.
He promised me that he will pay on time and I will not face any issues. But after April, he stopped paying and I started getting calls and emails that I am having a case in the police and the civil court. I have a travel ban.
My dept is 60,000 AED. I don't have enough money to pay this amount and that guy isn't paying either.
Can anyone help me to get rid of this?
Thanks in Advance!

Can bounced cheque cases be resolved at the police station?

2
Q: Dear sir/madam,
Can bounced cheque cases be resolved at the police station?
I have a bounced cheque with a real estate in Dubai. Can I deposit the amount in favor of the complainer at the police station?
Will the police close the case after paying off the amount?
Is there any way of paying and presenting the receipt to the police without a clearance letter from the real estate?

View allIs a bounced rent cheque case considered a criminal record for U.S. visa applications? 0
Hello,
My rent cheque was bounced, and my landlord filed a case against me in Sharjah Court. I received a fine of 2,000 AED, which was later reduced to 1,000 AED upon appeal.
Does this case count as a criminal conviction under UAE law, or was it handled as a civil matter?
If I apply for a U.S. visa, will I need to submit court records under the requirement for applicants with past convictions?

How can I renew my Ejari if the landlord hasn’t signed the new contract? 0
Hi,
I have been here for 3 years now and paid the increased amount (as per the agreement) for the 4th year.
However, the landlord did not send me back the signed contract, although I have both made the payment for the full year via bank transfer and sent my signed contract to him.
I need to renew my Ejari; however, how can I do it without the landlord's signature?
I have all the previous contracts signed by both parties, along with the Ejari for those contracts.

How can I file a counter-complaint against a person who made a false report about me for public cursing, which I never did?
He made the complaint about three months after we last met. I now have a case because of it, but I never said any bad words to him.
