Q: Question about property division in Dubai after divorce:
My husband divorced with his ex-wife. During their marriage, he bought property office unit (he paid money to buy it and he still paying for maintaining from his pocket) and gifted it to her. Now they divorced, can he get his half? What is Dubai law rules?
They are in court proceedings for the property division in Russia, in case if he can agree with her to sign this unit under his name, is it acceptable for Dubai? What documents does he need to show here in order to do property registration back to his name?

Financial rights of the wife after expats divorce in the UAE
36
Q: My husband and I are South African & have been married for 6 years. We live in Dubai. He also has a Canadian passport.
We were married with an Anti-Nuptial Contract (prenup) but the ANC was not registered, so we are married in community of property. We have nothing between us, no money/kids/assets.
My husband did receive inheritance money 2 years ago. I supported us financially for our marriage because my husband worked on commission only job.
He refused to find a job that paid a monthly salary. He contributed financially but I carried the bulk of our expenses. I used my own personal savings from before us being married to support us.
He promised that when he receives his inheritance he would return my savings, would buy us a house and more. He received this money about 2 years ago and has given me nothing.
He is an alcoholic, he has admitted that he has cheated on me by calling a sex line & has been arrested twice due to alcohol. We have been for counselling in the past. I moved out on 5/11/16.

Do I need a lawyer for drafting a settlement agreement in amicable divorce?

5
Q: What is the procedure to obtain an amicable divorce settlement following the family reconciliation center clearance?
Is a lawyer required to draft the settlement?
Can the lawyer liaise with the opposing party to reach the settlement?
If a NOC is sought from the reconciliation center, does the case automatically move to the court for a discussion on the financial settlement?
Or does the wife need to file a separate claim for the procedure?

The validity of divorce issued in the Egyptian Consulate in Dubai
3
Q: Hello,
I am Filipina Muslim and my husband is Egyptian Muslim. I found him cheating so I want to file a divorce.
If we get divorced in the Egyptian Consulate in Dubai, since our marriage took there, will our divorce be legalized in the Philippines and the UAE as well?
We both agreed to mutual consent divorce.

The application of a judgment issued in the UK against a person residing in the UAE

1
Q: Dear sir/madam,
My partner is a UK citizen and lives in the UK. Her ex-husband has a South African passport but lives and works in Dubai. He signed a consent order through the UK courts as part of the divorce.
However, he decided in January that he no longer wants to pay the maintenance due under the consent order or fulfil any other of his obligations under the order.
A UK court is reviewing the case and will be issuing judgements. Questions:
He has no UK bank accounts and his employer is in Dubai. The judgements will likely be garnishment of funds at source and garnishment of bank accounts. It is likely under UK law that an arrest order may also be issued for him if he returns to the UK.
Will these judgements be honoured by a Dubai court if they have been issued by a UK court?
Also, if these orders are issued by a UK court, how would the UAE Immigration department view this situation if they were advised that he has orders such as these issued against him in the UK?
Thank you!

2
Q: Dear Sir/Madam,
I requested divorce (we are Muslims) and I have the reconciliation session online in the first week of January. However, please, if someone can help me with this doubt:
What happens if my husband doesn't attend the online session? Will it take more time to get the divorce?
Thanks!
