Questions & Answers
Approximate maintenance for the wife and child after divorce
(1) How much maintenance percentage is required to be paid by a husband (working) who divorces his wife (not working) and has one daughter to support?
(2) We are British citizens living in the UAE and own a home in the UK. Will the UAE law force me to rent additional accommodation for her when I can provide a home in the UK?
Many thanks

Dear Sir,
Our advice will be based upon which law you have applied for the divorce settlement.
As per UAE Personal Status Law, you can apply your home country law or local law, i.e, UAE Law.
If you are willing to go with the UAE Law, then in such case you have to provide your wife with the alimony, maintenance, child maintenance and such other costs decided by the court.
Usually, here in the UAE, the maintenance for a child may vary from AED 1,500 to AED 3,000.
Point to be noted - All of the above amounts are decided by the court, keeping in mind the husband's monthly income.
If your wife has the residency visa of the UAE, then the court may order to provide her with the accommodation in the UAE.
