The possibility of reducing the notice period in unlimited contracts

I’m working in a semi-government company with an unlimited contract and three-year visa in Dubai where I have finished 4 years and 8 months with the company.

When I signed the first contract, the notice period mentioned 2 months, but currently, I cannot serve the notice period of 2 months, and my new employer cannot wait that long.

Is there something to resign immediately with 2-3 weeks of notice?

What will happen if I’ll not come to work after the notice date which I have mentioned in resignation?

Thanks in advance!

Dear questioner,

You can reach an agreement with your employer to serve them with less notice period. If they approve it, make sure that everything will be in writing, so you will not face any issues.

If the employer doesn't want to reach an agreement with you, in this case, you have to serve them with the 2 months notice period, otherwise, they will not cancel your visa, or worse, they will file an absconding case against you.

Dear Raluca Gatina,

Many thanks. Yes, in my contract the notice period is 60 days but there was an email sent by HR as below:

"Good Morning. This is to inform you all that with effect from 01 September 2018, those who resigned before two years of service with the company should pay the visa expenses and has to serve a notice period of two months.”

Will this email sent by HR work for me in order to give one month notice and leave the company though in contract it’s 2 months?

Awaiting for the quick response.
