Getting back to Dubai after leaving without proper visa cancellation

Hi,

I lived in Dubai for 17 years and met my British husband whilst being there and we married. 4 years later, he hit me and financially abused me so I fled to the UK with our 2 very young children.

I was not working at that time but was on his visa as a spouse. My visa was not properly canceled and it expired18 months ago. I am not on good terms at all with my ex-husband.

Am I safe to visit Dubai again? Or there will be a problem if I go there because of not canceling the visa officially and absconding with children?

We have UK court orders for divorce and the children are court-ordered to live with me.

Please advise!

You can visit the Emirates again as long as you leave it with a passport stamp.

As for rulings issued by British courts, they are enforceable, provided that they are documented in the competent authorities in Britain.

Much appreciated.

Sorry, one last question, is it possible that my ex-husband could have reported me to the police for absconding whilst being on his spousal visa? Or this is not an issue?

I fled to the UK and filed for divorce immediately.

Thank you!

As you informed that your visa was not cancelled, your visa should be cancelled, you can't get any other visa from UAE immigration until your previous visa is cancelled.

So please check with immigration whether the visa is cancelled or not.

Your UK court order will apply here but your husband can demand your children's guardianship and he can control them but you can have custody.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

I have been out of Dubai for almost 2 years and the visa expiry was Oct 2018. Does it automatically cancel after this time?

How do I cancel it without involving my ex-husband?

Thank you!

It will not cancel automatically.

Please message or call so I can explain further.
