Q: I am no longer in the UAE.
I have received the End of Service payment that the bank has blocked.
I have asked the bank to release part of the payment (30%) so that I can support myself and my family, and use the rest for the next 6 payments of the 24 remaining payments of my loan.
I want to continue with normal loan instalments until the loan is fully paid, but they said that they will forward the case to the collection department.
I have always paid my instalments on time and in full, but I have no possibility of paying the outstanding amount.
Is there any formal reason that I cannot continue to pay off the loan when I am outside the country?
Is this not against Sharjah law to deprive someone of means of subsistence by blocking the funds?
Is this not against Sharjah law to put someone in a bad credit situation and thus to deprive his human dignity if he says I want to continue regular payments and has always paid before?

Request to the bank for releasing the EOSB held against a loan
2
Q: My contract was terminated after four years of service and I have received the End of Service payment to my bank account, but this amount was immediately blocked.
I have contacted the bank to release the amount. I also said that I want to continue normal payments of loan instalments. I still have about 24 monthly payments, but the payment is only for 9.
Can the bank agree that I make instalment payments if I am no longer in the UAE?

Holding the EOSB of an employee by the bank upon changing jobs
8
Q: Hi,
Good eve, Madam.
I have a query regarding EOSB. I resigned from my previous company and my EOSB was held by the bank due to my existing loan until I can provide them with new documents for my current job.
Let's make things short. I provide them with a new visa and salary transfer letter addressed to the bank.
Unfortunately, upon presenting all the documents, they informed me that the new company is not listed in the bank.
Do the bank have the right to use my EOSB to adjust my remaining loan?

How to know the reasons why the bank froze my accounts and release it?

2
Q: Dear Sir/ Ma'am,
My bank in the UAE has suddenly frozen/blocked my credit card and both my accounts without any prior intimation/information.
After taking up the bank several times, the bank informed me that this has been done upon the instructions of the Central Bank and there's no reason given.
It has been more than a month and the status quo is maintained. I urgently need to access my accounts since I am in urgent need of funds for medical and personal reasons.
I do not have any previous cases nor any pending fines, civil/criminal cases, etc and I have always been very prompt in all my payments for more than 27 years.
My questions are:
1) Why have my accounts and card frozen/ blocked (without my intimation)?
2) When will they be unblocked/released? (these are my life savings).
3) Can I travel back to the UAE safely without any action taken against me and my family? (presently I am out of the country).
Thank you very much for your kind advice.
My best regards

Changing employers in UAE: Will my bank account be affected?

1
Q: Hello,
I have a query regarding my current situation where my Emirates ID is linked to my bank account.
I am planning to cancel my existing employment visa and apply for a new work permit with a different employer.
I am concerned about whether this change might impact my bank account, particularly if there are any outstanding credit card payments.
Thanks!

Q: Dear lawyers,
The new employee will start on June 1, 2025. However, he would like to open a new bank account in the UAE thus asking to provide the salary certificate mentioning his salary in AED and if possible not mentioning the start date.
Legally, can the company provide such a certificate?

Liability for the unpaid loan 31
I was jailed for 4 months for not being able to pay a loan from a Dubai bank since I've lost my job in 2011.
After my release, I tried looking for a job but was unsuccessful, so I went back to my home country when my visa expired but still the bank is sending emails and threatening me and wants to collect money from me.
Now that I am back here in Dubai, they threatened to file a ban against me and told me that I cannot get my visa renewed if I will not pay them.
Can the bank do such THING? I already have accepted the punishment of serving jail time since during that time I didn't have a JOB and was totally broke. What can I do so that they will stop harassing me?
What does the law say if someone had served the sentence for a bouncing check case?
Thanks and hoping to be enlightened.
