Q: I have been appointed as a POA holder on behalf of my boss/owner of my company to act on his behalf. He told us that he would help us in all financial aid from USA (where he is residing) and we just need to run the operations here in the UAE. However, it's been quite a while where we have not received any support/financial assistance from him and there are a lot of unpaid bills pending here. I would like to know if I cancel my POA, can I get away with this mess or will I still be liable to pay and be penalized?

Q: Dear Naser Could you please clear my legal doubt? If a person with no power of attorney in an organization signed an agreement with the other party, can this be considered as a binding agreement in case of arbitration or filing a case in the courts of the UAE as per the UAE law? Thanks, Mohamed

Q: Dear Sir/Madam I issued a General Power of Attorney to someone for renting our property. (He and I own a property together in Dubai). Since he took the POA, He hasn't paid my share of rental and doesn't even answer my calls anymore! I don’t even know what has happened to our property or even to my share. (I think that he has stolen my share). I have sent several emails to agents that do business with him and asked them to give me all copies of tenancy contracts and all other documents about my property, but they haven't replied to my requests yet. I like to mention that He has taken all the copies of the POA and Deed of Property and I don’t have any copy of the Deed or POA. What shall I do? Thanks

This Law promulgates the Federal Penal Code (Criminal Law) of the United Arab Emirates. Crimes and chastisement punishments shall be determined in accordance with the provisions of this Law and other penal codes.

The provisions of this law, promulgating UAE Civil Code, govern the civil transactions in the United Arab Emirates. The commercial transactions remain subject to the laws and regulations applicable in their regard.

The law promulgates UAE Civil Procedures Code (Civil Procedure Law) which governs civil procedures in the United Arab Emirates, including the prosecution before the courts, litigation and execution.
