Travel ban for a mobile phone debt with Etisalat

Hello Mam.

My name is Harbhajan Singh Gurm. Someone bought a mobile phone from Etisalat in 2014 on my identity. I even don't know who is he.

Tasheel sent me msgs regarding my travel ban. I complained to Etisalat, but no result is given to me. I have urgent work in India these days. So what should I do?

Can I go to India after they file a case in the police station?

Please guide me.

Thank you

Etisalat has to file a case irrespective whether the borrower is in the country or outside or whether he has a job or not.

If Etisalat does not file the case for accounting purpose, it will not be treated as bad debts and it will show in the system that you have outstanding debts.

Non-payment of a debt is a criminal offence in the UAE, and can lead to people not being able to leave the country, or being stopped and arrested upon trying to re-enter – even if it’s just in transit.
