Issuing a warning letter to an employee because of his beard

Hi sir,

I am a Muslim guy working in a company in the UAE as a customer service representative. They deployed me to airport terminal 1. We are doing customer service there today.

One of our managers just come very close to my face and took a picture while I was working in the arrival area of terminal 1, then he spoke to me very rudely and told me that he will give me a warning letter because I have a beard.

My beard is just a small beard; it's a trimmed beard as Muslim without any design on the beard. I feel so bad about this. I don't know what I can do about this.

Dear questioner,

You have to check the company's procedures and manuals to clarify if having a beard is not allowed.

If it is not allowed, you should abide by the rules and your manager can notify you about that and give you a warning if you do not follow the rules.

Nevertheless, taking a photo or filming others in the UAE is not allowed without requesting permission.

If the permission is not obtained, it will be considered as a privacy invasion and a punishable crime as per the Federal Decree-Law No. 5 of 2012 of the Cybercrime Law.

You should speak to your HR department, explain the situation, and complain about the unacceptable behavior of your manager.

Good Luck!
