The possibility to convert jail judgments of cheque bounce cases to fines

Hi Sir,

I have a judgement in absentia for 3 cheque bounce cases with amounts less than 100,000 in Dubai, U.A.E.

Can I appeal and convert them to fines through a lawyer?

Dear Sir/ Madam,

Thank you for reaching out to me on this!

Could you please advise where these cases have been registered and what is the judgment against them?

It is possible to give a power of attorney to a lawyer who may file "objection" and "appeal" on your behalf to lower the penalty.

However, in the usual course, the court may require the presence of the accused i.e. you. In which case, you will have to physically appear before the court.

You may need not worry about the arrest at the airport, as the bail arrangements will be made by your lawyer.

Since your cases are below AED 100,000/-, there are bright chances you will get a judgment in fines.

I would require further details from you on your cases to advise better.

You may reach out to me via phone or email.

Regards,

Hari Wadhwana

Sir,

Thank you for the quick reply!

The cases have been registered in Dubai court and there is 1-month jail on each case.
