The way of lifting a travel ban after resolving a civil case

A person has overstayed in the UAE due to a travel ban for a civil case which is now resolved.

How does the person then rectify their immigration status and how long should the process take?

Dear Questioner,

Please let me know what do you mean with "the case is resolved"? did you pay the fine imposed by the prosecutor or you reach a settlement agreement with the other party?

In case there was a fine imposed against you, you need to go back to the police station where the case has been filed and submit the letter provided by the public prosecutor.

I advise you to approach also the CID department to make sure your records are updated in their system.

In case there was just a settlement agreement between parties, you need to submit the settlement agreement and the release letter issued by the other party to the police.

Once you submit the letters to the police, you need to approach the CID department to make sure their system is updated too.

In case you need my support all this process, please feel free to contact me at my email.

The civil case was withdrawn by the landlord.

Do you have any court decision issued in this way? If yes, you should not have any issues on exiting the country.

However, before exiting the country I suggest you hire a lawyer to check the criminal and immigration records under your name to make sure you will not have any issues when exiting the UAE.

You can approach also the police and immigration to check the same, but in case there is any other case filed against you, they might catch you.

I have had a lawyer check the system and there is only the immigration issue to resolve, but it's that process I am trying to clarify.

It took 3 years to resolve the civil case hence the overstay as I was under a travel ban for that period.

Dear Questioner,

In case you need our assistance with the immigration issue, please let me know.

We can act on your behalf based on a POA. In case we take the case over, I need you to provide me with a scanned copy of all documents, to see the details and the stage of the case.

Please feel free to contact me at my email.
