How to close a joint bank account in the UAE in the absence of other partners
I have a joint current account with 2 other persons and I am the primary account holder. The account is dormant with zero balance and I want to close the account.
The bank is asking for a letter from other account holders. The other two account holders have left the country long back and no way I can contact them or trace them.
What is the legal way to close the account in the absence of the other two account holders?

Dear Questioner,
Opening and closing a joint bank account require the approval of all the account parties regardless of who is the primary account holder.
Nevertheless, every bank has its own policies and rules for a joint bank account. You should go back to the specific bank account details you own and check what are the options to close the account without the consent of other parties.
You can also ask the bank representative to show you the rules to ensure that this is the only possible way to close the account.
In addition, try to speak with the manager and explain the situation.
Good Luck.
