Consequences of not exiting the country within 30-day grace period

What are the consequences of not leaving the UAE after employment visa has been cancelled but within 30 days grace period?

The employer bought a one-way ticket home under the agreement prior to cancellation that the employee will go back to the home country.

Can the employer file any case in immigration because the employee decided to look for jobs in UAE instead?

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for reaching out to me on this.

After your visa is cancelled, you have two options:

1- Exit the country before the 30-day grace period. Failing which, the employer can file an absconding case against you.

2- Change your visa status before the 30-day grace period. That is you should get a new job or sponsor, this way your ex-employer cannot take any legal action against you.

In short, the answer to your question is that your employer cannot file any case against you if you are looking for a job in the UAE, provided the 30-day period has not lapsed.

Regards,

Hari Wadhwana
