The impact of old TB scars on issuing a work visa
40
Q: Dear Mr ElKhatib,
I am an assistant professor working currently in the United Kingdom. I suffered pulmonary TB 15 years ago (2003) and received all necessary medications.
I have some scars in my right lung; however, I worked before in the USA, Germany, Japan, and other countries.
Now, I have an offer from a university in Abu Dhabi but still worry about accepting it because I will resign from my job in the UK.
Do these scars make me unfit? Is there any solution for this problem?
Many thanks

Entering the UAE in case of detecting old TB scars

Q: Hi!
Good day!
My daughter is planning to come and work in Dubai soon. My question is she had tuberculosis when she was 9 years old and she was on treatment for 6 mons that time and was treated.
My question is, does it leave a lung scar? I am scared that it will show up in the chest X-ray during the medical exam.
Will the UAE immigration issue a working/ residence visa for people with an old scar?
Thanks,
Ms A.

Getting a job in Dubai after recovering from tuberculosis
2
Q: Hello all,
My sister is looking to move to Dubai for a job, but she had tuberculosis 8 years ago.
Though she has recovered 100 percent, tuberculosis still leaves scars on the chest, and this is the case with my sister. Whenever a chest x-ray is done, her x-ray shows only the scars and lesions.
We are concerned if she will be able to secure a job in Dubai or be permitted to work here.
Are there any special requirements that she should be aware of?
Is there anything that needs to be done in order to ensure that she can move to Dubai and work?
We would be grateful for any advice that can be provided in this regard.
Thank you!

How to get the security deposit from landlord after finishing all proceedings? 2
The landlord has not returned my security deposit worth AED 5000. I filed a case and have judicial announcements that the landlord should return deposit+expenses. But still no response.
The landlord is out of the UAE and his property is handled by the agent. Not sure how to get my money back while I followed all procedures, even filed an execution case but no response.
While I keep paying to follow up on the case, the property is rented out to the next tenant and earning money. I feel like this system is created like this on purpose.

Is it possible for the employer to drop a case filed by employee in free zone? 0
I filed a complaint to SHAMS regarding unpaid salaries.
My employer drafted a contract saying I should drop the complaint within a week. If I fail to do so, they have the right to do it themselves.
Is this acceptable?

Winding down an LLC company and the liability of the manager after absconding 3
Hi there Michael,
I am a 24% shareholder in an LLC wherein the other shareholders are our local partner with 51% shares and the partner who is listed as manager on the trade license with 25% shares.
The manager has absconded leaving behind unpaid VAT and other debts that are well over 30 days due (up to a year). No proceedings by creditors have been filed against the company and the MOA contains a general POA in favor of the Manager.
I would like to wind down the company without going through bankruptcy procedures. My understanding is that the listed manager of an LLC is personally liable for the Company's debts.
I need advice about the procedures required to wind down the company. I do not wish to go through bankruptcy procedures as the finances and management of the company were being handled by the manager. I am just the creative director of the LLC.
Please advise as soon as possible.

How to reschedule bank loan payments in case or leaving the UAE 0
Good afternoon,
I’m a doctor who lives and works in the UAE. I have a current personal loan which I’m paying it regularly but I have a better offer to move and work in the UK.
Is there a way to contact the bank and reschedule my loan payments and pay them from the UK?
Obviously, this will need more scheduled payment years as my salary in the UK will be less than the UAE.
To make it clear, instead of paying my loan in 4 years as here in the UAE, can I schedule it to 8 years?
Thanks!

Can I be convicted of driving under the influence even if the alcohol test came back negative? 0
Hello,
I was driving my car when the police stopped me at one point on the road and told me that I was driving under the influence of alcohol.
I tried hard to deny that because I had not actually consumed any alcoholic beverages that day or in the previous three days.
However, a report was filed and a case was opened, but the alcohol test report came back negative. Will I be convicted despite that?
Please answer me. It is urgent.

Can we legally claim unpaid dues for food supplies based on emails and invoices? 0
Hello,
We have an agreement with a company to supply food for their buffet on a daily basis, with invoices to be issued monthly and payment to be made every three months.
The relationship actually lasted for nine months, and payment was made for two periods. In the third period, due to disagreements between our company and the company to which the supply was made, they refused to pay, noting that the outstanding amount so far is fifty-four thousand dirhams.
Can we claim the amount, noting that the agreement is not written, but there are emails exchanged between us and invoices?

A hair salon caused serious damage to my hair and scalp. What can I do to sue them? 0
I’m looking for legal advice regarding a hair salon incident that caused serious damage to my hair and scalp.
I visited a salon for a colouring treatment, during which two rounds of bleach, which is not what I booked in for, were given to me without proper approvals, and were applied back-to-back without a strand test or proper consultation.
As a result, I’ve been experiencing extreme hair breakage, daily hair loss, and ongoing scalp irritation. This has been especially distressing as I’m currently pregnant.
It’s now been over 20 days since the incident, and despite multiple polite follow-ups, the salon has ignored all communication.
I’m now exploring legal action to pursue compensation for the physical and emotional distress caused. I have full documentation, messages, and photos.
Any guidance on the best next steps or legal routes I can take would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

What can I do if the landlord has not been responding to renew the commercial lease contract and Ejari? 0
Good day.
For the last 3 years, the landlord's office has not responded to renew the contract, so I contacted RERA for renewal.
The office doesn't respond to emails related to renewal, even though I started sending emails and reminders 2 to 3 months before expiry, and I have no choice but to contact RERA and send a notice.
Once the renewal was processed by law, the landlord's office delayed in releasing the Ejari. Since it is a commercial property, my renewals are related to a staff visa, and I have to pay delay penalties.
The landlord's office staff tried to take advantage of the Emirati owner, and no direct meeting was fruitful.
What is the law that safeguards expats and sorts out issues without mutual compromise as they try to force their terms to be acceptable by law and not supported by any documentation?
