Reducing your salary is considered as forced resignation

Hello,

My company reduced my salary and made me sign a letter but have not issued a new contract despite several requests. My salary was reduced from AED 17,000 to AED 10,500.

I have now resigned and gave them a one-month notice but they are asking me to pay 45 days salary to them because I am on a limited contract.

What are my options, please?

Dear Questioner,

Thanks for writing to me.

Please note that the reduction of salary is a forced resignation. You may register a labour complaint against your employer for forced resignation [arbitrary dismissal].

No need to pay any compensation to the employer. if yours is a mainland company call up 80060 and raise your complaint.

If it's a free zone company, please approach the legal department of the concerned free zone to raise the complaint.

Please feel free to contact if you need any further information, assistance or guidance on this matter.

Thank you.

Hi Rajasree,

Thank you for your response.

They reduced my salary over 9 months ago, they made me sign a document sighting performance but they never issued me a new contract even though I asked them several times.

I had become a borderline, depressed and suicidal. I have created a complaint with the Dubai Development Authority and I will proceed with them to claim the money owed to me.

Thank you.
