I am in Africa, and I left Dubai before settling my loan. I am being contacted by an independent debt collector.

I am outside the UAE, what are my options if I ignore the debt collector?

If a debt collection agency could manage to contact you then for sure they have their ways to collect the money. Most of them have a network of agencies and in all likelihood, they will approach someone in Africa.

Ignoring a debt collector: legally it depends on the power given by your creditor to the agency. First, they call you, then threaten and finally take legal recourse.

Clearance: only on the payment of the debt or the amount settled as agreed by your creditor.
