Consequences of a civil case for an outstanding bank debt
Good morning Sir,
What is a civil case?
I have an outstanding payment for a bank of AED 61875.61. I am unable to pay because of salary delays, this has lead to financial instability.
Now, the bank informed me that they will file a civil case against me. I want to understand what will be consequences for me.
What judgement will I get from court?
Please advise.
Thanks & Regards,
F.

Dear Mr F.,
Thank you for reaching out to me on this.
Please note that in a civil case there is no automatic travel ban levied on a person and in the end the court may order you to pay a principal amount owed to the bank (including or not including interest/ penalty/ late payment fee).
You can continue negotiating with the bank and seek a settlement. It is unlikely the bank may opt for a civil case in such a claim.
