Q: Hi,
I have a contract with a moving company to ship my possessions from Abu Dhabi to Melbourne. The moving service is paid in full. There are storage charges of approx AED1200 pending and this is no issue for me to pay.
I raised a query about reassembly of furniture at the destination, the contract contradicted verbal advice so before signing the contract I crossed out the parts saying that I do not receive reassembly of my furniture at the destination and highlighted this to the moving company - they did not dispute this.
The company have now refused reassembly service so I suggested we remediate the issue by reducing the amount owed for storage fees, as I will need to hire a contractor at the destination to assemble the furniture. Now the moving company is holding my shipment until I pay the storage fees, AND are refusing to approve reassembly service.
What are my options?
Thank you

Neutral party entrusted with the belongings of divorcing couple
0
Q: I was requested by a couple who were leaving the UAE to retrieve their belongings, as they could not fit them into their luggage.
One of them is my friend and co-worker, and the other is a Swiss national whom I only know via my friend.
The instructions were to hold on to the belongings until they were able to send me an address and money to ship them to their new location in the USA.
In the short time they've been in the USA, a string of events had led them to separate. The Swiss national moved back to Switzerland and has been making legal threats and physical harm threats to me if I do not send his belongings to him.
Since the bags contain both of their belongings, I have decided to send the bags to my friend in the USA so that the belongings can be divided in front of a divorce lawyer. Does this break any legal grounds on my part?
He is making threats to open cases in Dubai and the EU. Is this possible based on these grounds?

Filing a complaint against a shipping company due to delivery delay

5
Q: Greetings,
I sent a shipment of around 40k of value to France from Dubai on the 25th of August. During the communication with the shipping company, I was informed that it will take 6-7 days.
It is the 7th of September today and until now they are unable to give me an update on where my shipment is. Moreover, this delay has cost me extra money on having to postpone the ticket of the receiver in France and his extra stay expenses.
Is there any official complaint, or any actions that I can take against such an unprofessional company?
Appreciate your reply!

How to take legal action against a shipping company for fraud?

2
Q: Greetings,
My husband has been a victim of fraud in Dubai by a shipping company. He shipped his personal belongings from Dubai to San Diego and paid for the shipment in advance.
He was told that it would take 4-8 weeks, but the shipping company has not responded to his attempts to communicate with them.
He has pictures of the belongings and the receipt. Is there anything that can be done legally?
Thank you!

View allTerminating an employee after sick leave and claiming compensation 0
Hello,
My employer fired me under Article 44 for not showing up for work for 7 days in a row. But that’s not the case at all. I was sick and the management was aware and they let me go.
I went to another country to get treatment because it’s expensive in Dubai. My employer did not pay me my salary for the month I worked and fired me.
I have official sick leave from another country and there is correspondence where my employer sent me to another country for treatment.
The problem is that the employer says that he will take compensation for the training that was specified in the contract, but I did not undergo training at all; I immediately started work from the first day of work and there was no training.
Does my employer have the right to charge me such a fee and not pay my salary?

How to make the seller hand over the tenant's security deposit to the buyer upon completing a sale? 0
Should the seller in Dubai hand over their tenant's security deposit to the buyer upon completing a sale?
Who is responsible for managing this process?
At the time of the exchange, the broker said he would follow up with the seller and collect the deposit.
He hasn’t, and the seller has not handed over the deposit.

How to cancel the MoU to buy an apartment with the broker if the bank did not approve the loan? 0
Hi,
I have a situation where I signed an MoU and gave my security deposit to the seller's agent. However later, the bank valuation of the property is lower than the selling price.
On my MoU, it has a clause that “the buyer has a right to cancel/negotiate if the bank valuation is not the same as MoU.” I tried to negotiate, however, we didn't agree on the price so I asked to cancel.
Now the agent is threatening me that they will not cancel the MoU and that will deposit my cheque. Later I also came to know that the person I am dealing with is not the same person whose name is mentioned as a broker in the MoU.
The agent I am dealing with is constantly messaging me with threats. I decided not to speak to him and instead, I wrote an email to the broker whose name is mentioned on the MoU but received no response.
I am on a very tight timeline as I need to vacate my apartment in 3 weeks, I found another unit but I don't know if I can pursue this while the initial MoU still not canceled.
Please, I need advice.
