Replacing passport in a cheque case at the police station

Dear Sir,

I need to exchange my wife's passport with mine at the police station.

I had been arrested for house rent bounced cheque in Sharjah. By then, my passport had been taken for visa stamping thus her passport was kept in custody for my release.

I still have a balance to pay and her visa is due for renewal. I being her sponsor, would kindly need to get her passport for visa renewal and replace it with mine as I still sought to clear the balance.

Please advise how can I go about this.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully

Dear Sir,

Thank you for getting in touch with me on this.

I would advise that you approach the police station and make an application to release the passport and replacing it with your wife's.

If the case is still going, then you will have to apply at the court. However, for now, just approach the police station and request them for a replacement.

They will assist you with procedural formalities.

Hari Wadhwana

Dear Sir,

I do find it complicated, thus approaching legal advice.

My thought is that I may get arrested, why? Because firstly the case is on for a long time, was released and given a week by the public prosecutor in Sharjah Court.

That was almost a year ago. I did not manage to raise the amount, thus did not attend court on the given date, and was afraid to be detained again.

Secondly, though I am working, as of now until the end of August 2019, I am earning almost nothing because the bank is deducting a loan and am as well deduction of house allowance, thus can't promise to pay today if asked.

With this, is it possible for me to go to the police and/or the court to make an application without being detained?

Dear Sir,

Now that you give me further information, I agree that your assumption for arrest is well placed.

In your situation, let your friend or appoint a legal attorney to represent you in the police and find out the details.

It is safe for your friend to approach or lawyer to get details as opposed to yourself.

Dear Sir,

In that case, I wish to appoint a legal attorney. The case is in Sharjah.

Kindly advise.
