Acting against a police call for a bounced cheque
We have a security cheque bounce case for AED 210000. My partner had signed the cheque and this was for a business loan.
The amount paid back is AED 127820. My partner has received the call to attend the police station. I want to know as to how to proceed.

Dear Sir/ Madam,
Thank you for reaching out to me on this.
Can you please advise as to which Emirate and police station your case is registered at?
At this juncture you have two options:
1- Make the rest of the payment to the opposing party and get a release letter. Once you get this letter, the police will withdraw the case against you.
2- Approach the police station and offer to pay a fine against the case. Once you pay the fine, the case will be lifted. However, since your cheque is above AED 200k, there is a possibility of a jail term.
Hence I would advise that you have a legal representation along with you to explain the case and persuade them to levy a penalty in fine only.
I would not advise you to approach the police station without legal representation as the signatory of the cheque may be detained.
You can get in touch with me on 052-9495731 for further discussion and clarifications.
