Q: A judgement issued today in a criminal case for stealing has resulted in a jail term of three months.
An appeal application hearing has been made, in order to turn the jail term into a fine.
The appeal date has been set for January 2018, and we were informed that we can make an application to have the appeal heard earlier, is this possible?
We would like to convert and pay the fine as soon as possible, in order for the subject to be closed and the accused to have his passport back.

Defending a criminal case to avoid jail and deportation
3
Q: Hi Sir,
My friend and his friends have been caught for having drugs at their home, and police came and caught them at home. They took them to jail and the results have been positive.
As they are students of the final year, it is difficult to finish their career when they will be deported or put in jail as by 3 months their college year will get over.
So, it will be helpful if they remove the deportation and jail sentences for their career and future.

Legal status of a condemned in criminal offence after amnesty
0
Q: Hello,
Good afternoon.
I hope you can help me.
My husband has been deported because of criminal offence drug-related cases. He hasn't finished his jail term because his name was included in the amnesty list.
Is there any chance for him to enter the UAE again? On the other hand, is there any chance for him to have a transit or stop over to any airport in the GCC?
Please advise what to do.

Removing a deportation order for possession of drugs
38
Q: Hi,
My fiance was arrested due to drug possession.
The prosecutor in Dubai dropped the charges and ordered deportation after 30 days being in jail, so he doesn't have an order for deportation from the court as he didn't go to the court.
What are the chances for him to get back to the UAE as he has a good job offer and what is the procedure to do that?
Thank you

Is it possible to convert a deportation order to a fine in a theft case after serving sentence?

1
Q: Hi,
Someone has a theft case with a sentence of 3 months and deportation then the sentence is already served and finished and the person tried to appeal but the judgment remained the same.
What are the chances of requesting a deportation order to be converted into a fine so the person can pay a fine instead of being deported, and remain in the country?

Can I update my visa if I filed an appeal to reduce the fine in a criminal case?
0
Q: I have a criminal case against me and I filed an appeal for it after the judgment because I got a fine in the judgment and I can't pay that much amount of fine.
What do I need to do now?
Recently I added my surname to my passport and I got it now. So I need to add the existing visa to my new passport and update my name with my surname on my visa and Emirates ID as well.
Do I need a police clearance for that or it can be done normally without any issues?
If there is anything related to my case or complaint can I do it with a clearance letter?

View allHow can I vacate my tenant if the rental agreement ends before the eviction notice deadline? 0
My Dubai tenant's rental agreement is ending by the end of September 2024 and the completion of 12 months of legally served Eviction Notice is the end of December 2024.
I have two questions:
(a) Can I send a rent increase notice 3 months before as the rent has increased as per the RERA rent calculator?
(b) The second question is, do I have to renew the rental agreement for 3 months (until December 2024) or not?
Thank you.

How can I reach a settlement with the bank for a mortgage of a jointly owned property? 0
I have a jointly owned property in Abu Dhabi. The mortgage was defaulted on as I had to leave the property with my children following an assault by my ex-husband. He left the country in 2018 and never paid the mortgage.
As I was in the country, the bank filed a criminal case against me, and I was sentenced to 3 years. I won the appeal against the bank and then filed another criminal case a few months later in Dubai. Again, I won and paid a fine.
In 2019, the bank started a civil case against me and my ex-husband to have the property repossessed. However, at the time of the purchase of the property, there were no Title Deeds, the bank requires this.
I cannot give them the Title Deeds to sell the property and pay back the amount owed to them as my ex-husband refuses to provide a POA. The bank has filed another criminal case against me only for our jointly owned property.
I wish to resolve this and pay off the bank and receive any money left from the sale. How can I resolve this issue of the Title Deeds?

Can a real estate agency hold a percentage of a property sale until transfer is done? 0
A real estate agency has signed an MOU stating that a 10% security deposit from the buyer and the seller will be kept in the real estate agency and will be released upon transferring the property.
The transfer of the property was blocked due to the court order.
According to my colleagues, the real estate agency is not a trustee and they are not allowed to have taken my security check in the first place, is this correct?
