Q: Hi, I have just found out I have a police case filed by my bank on a credit card payment. I have a credit card with 25k limit and could not do minimum payments for 1 year (due to job loss), nevertheless, the bank filed a case against me for 190k. I do not understand on what ground and would like to know what to do. As well, how can I find out if I have a travel ban as I would rather try and solve the situation remotely from home than be concerned that I will be jailed here? Your advice is appreciated.

Q: I was a resident of Dubai around 10 years back, and during that time I had some credit card balances which I never paid back. I don't remember if I had signed any security cheque that time. I want to settle the debt, but before starting a negotiation with the bank I would like to know if there is a police case against me. Is it a good idea to try and apply for the police good conduct certificate? If there is any case, how will the certificate look like? Will I get the case details on the certificate or no certificate at all? Also, during that time I did not have any Emirates ID., can I apply even without the Emirates ID?

Q: Hi Sir, Two banks in the UAE (FAB & ADCB) filed a bounced cheque case against me on credit cards liabilities. FAB cheque amount is AED 20K & ADCB cheque amount is AED 10k. Now, I am in India and I am planning to come to the UAE next month. What action will they take? Fine or jail? Please advice asap.

Since then, I got a police clearance certificate from Dubai Police for immigration purposes in another country. I was wondering if this meant that my record was clear and if I landed in Dubai I would not be put behind bars or anything of the sort.

Q: Dear lawyers I am from the Republic of Korea (Usually say South Korea). As my experience, I didn't have any difficulty and/or limitation for normal visiting and travelling to the UAE without particular visa till recent (Not for working). But as I knew my name is still on the blacklist against the processing of working visa with a record of credit card fee payment delay even all payment had completed and closed that case. (I had worked as a chef during certain years a long time ago). Can you delete my name from the blacklist for my potential working visa processing?
