Questions & Answers
What can I do if my company changed my notice period from thirty to ninety days without my approval?
This is my 2nd time renewing my visa for my company, and they changed my contract's notice period from 30 days to 90 days without informing me, and they are insisting that the contract is authority-generated.
I checked the UAE Website, and it is mentioned that we can choose between 30 days and 90 days. Please advise what I should do; I don't want to serve 90 days, and it was not in my initial contract.
Thank you.
File a formal complaint with the Ministry, including the following:
- That the original notice period was 30 days.
- That you were not notified, nor did you agree to extend it to 90 days.
- That the amendment was made without your knowledge or signature.
Insist on the 30-day notice period.
If your previous contract is valid (and you do not have a new contract clearly signed for 90 days), you have the legal right to insist on the original notice period (30 days), especially if the new contract was not clearly presented to you.
You must submit a written and documented objection to your employer regarding the illegal change to the notice period, based on the fact that the original contract specifies a 30-day period and you have not agreed to any change in writing.
You can then contact the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE).

Dear questioner
It is your company that changed the notice period, not the authority.
The law prescribes that the notice period must be 30 to 90 days and not beyond that. The first step is to formally communicate with your company's HR or management in writing (e.g., via email).
State clearly that you did not agree to the change in the notice period, and that the terms of your original contract still apply.
Request a copy of the new, signed contract and point out that your signature is not on it. If your company is unwilling to resolve the issue, you have strong legal grounds to file a complaint with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).

Greetings,
It is your responsibility to read the contract before you sign. Legally, you cannot say that I signed a binding contract without reading.
If it has already been signed, try to negotiate with the company, and in the event that they insist, you have to serve a month's notice period.
Best Regards
