Salary discrepancy between offer letter and contract: What are my rights?
Q: Good evening, I am currently on maternity leave. My offer letter states that my salary is AED 8,000, out of which AED 4,000 is my basic salary and the remaining is in allowances. However, my MOHRE contract only mentions AED 4,000. I have only received a salary of AED 4,000 for 30 days. Please can you advise me on what salary I should be receiving? Am I still liable to pay a loan to a new bank after the old bank was taken over?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I lost my job in 2018, and in 2019, the bank opened a criminal case against me for defaulting on my loan. I attended the hearing with a judge and was told to pay a fine of AED 7,000, which I did. The bank was then taken over by another bank in 2020/2021. In late 2022, the new bank that took over is calling me to clear my loan, but I never signed anything with them, and my case was before the takeover. Tenant wants to leave apartment early after eviction notice: Is he entitled to a refund?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I am in the process of selling an apartment that is tenanted until February 2024. In April 2023, I served the tenant with an eviction notice due to my plan to sell, which means he has until April 2024 to leave the apartment. The contract stipulates that he is liable for two months` rent for early termination. The tenant has informed me that he wishes to leave immediately and is demanding a refund of rent paid for the entire remaining period of the contract. He claims that, according to the DLD, he can leave with no notice and without any penalty due to the eviction notice. Is he correct? أسئلة وأجوبة

The landlord wants to increase rent above RERA Index. How to renew my contract?
Q: My landlord was asking for an unjustified rent increase of 9K, while the RERA calculator showed 3K. He was threatening to go through the Rent Valuation process, however, he only gave me a notice period of 83 days. According to Dubai Decree No 43 of 2013 and Law No 33 of 2008, landlords are required to provide a 90-day notice period before making any changes to the rental contract, including increasing the rent amount. Failure to comply with this notice period entitles the tenant to refuse the rent increase. As the current contract is coming to an end by the end of next week, I have made several attempts to reach out to my landlord and his real estate agent to reiterate my interest in extending the contract and collecting the rental cheques at the old prices. Also, I kindly requested that they provide me with the contract as soon as possible. Unfortunately, I have not received any response thus far, and considering that this week is a holiday week, I do not know what to do. Sincerely,
