Do I need to pay my company any compensation if I resign during probation?
Q: I worked for a company and due to the lack of work-life balance affecting my mental and physical health, I submitted my resignation according to the contract I signed. The contract stipulated a two-month notice period during my probation as I joined this company on 05 Dec 2023. I submitted my resignation on March 20 stating my last working day as May 20 But the company released me on April 16. However, for the month of March, I did not receive my salary. Now the company is asking me to sign the visa cancellation letter In this letter there is a clause stating "I certify that I have received all my dues up to date - Employee signature" but I have not received my salary. I also explicitly asked them whether they would deduct any amount for the visas as some people have told me that some companies do such things even when nothing is mentioned in the contract. They replied to that email stating they would provide dues but did not mention any specific date. Please advise me on how to proceed.

Temporary possession of brother's passport to leave UAE for an emergency
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I am currently subject to a travel ban in the UAE, which prohibits me from leaving the country. Despite my critical circumstances, which include having multiple cases related to banking matters and cases in the Rental Dispute Centre, I find myself unable to travel due to this restriction. Complicating matters further, my wife is currently critically ill, necessitating my immediate need to travel. Given the urgency of my situation and the lack of a suitable guarantor, I am exploring all available options. I am currently running a small business in Dubai, and my brother is scheduled to join me in a few weeks. Is it possible for me to request temporary possession of my brother`s passport for a couple of weeks in order to leave the UAE to attend to my wife`s critical condition? Your prompt assistance and guidance on the available legal avenues would be greatly appreciated.

Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I find myself in a situation with my ex-employer and want some advice from the knowledgeable folks here. I resigned providing notice as required by my contract. However, my employer is withholding my ESOB, unpaid vacation days, and salary unless I sign a document. This document includes clauses covering NDA, non-compete, and importantly, a statement claiming that all dues have been settled. Despite my repeated refusal to sign until my outstanding dues are resolved, my employer has threatened me with a ban if I don`t comply within the next 24 hours. I`ve expressed my willingness to sign the NDA and non-compete clauses but have insisted that any statement regarding the clearance of dues be omitted until they are actually settled. I`m seeking advice on what options are available to me in this situation and whether I should take the threat of a ban seriously, considering its legal standing. Can the payment terms be changed from monthly to one upfront cheque?
Q: Hi there, My lease is up for renewal and I have agreed to the 10% increase, however, my landlord now wants to change payment terms from monthly payments which I have been doing for the past 3 years, into 1 cheque upfront which I can not afford or able to do.
