I paid for a partner visa but never received it. How can I recover my money?
Q: Hello, I have a friend who has an agency that promised me a partner`s visa. She told me the payment would be 7800 AED full package, then I paid over half, 4900 AED, last October 2024. But up until February 2025, I still didn’t receive any documents from her. So I decided to apply somewhere else, and I got my investor`s visa already. Now, I am asking for a refund, but until now, she is not giving it to me and not replying to my messages. What do I do with this?

How can I claim my settlement if the company is inactive but some branches still operate?
Q: Hello, I got a judgment from Dubai Court stating that the employer should do my settlement. It’s been years, but I still haven`t received the payment in my account. When I checked with Al Adheed Center, they said if the company is not active, it’s not possible to get the money. However, it’s a group of companies, and a few branches are still running. Is there any chance to claim it, or can I appeal directly to the court?

Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I have lived in Dubai for 5 years. I left Dubai in November this year on an outpass to return to London, UK, for a family emergency. I owe 15,000 AED for overstaying fines, which I plan to pay when I return in January 2024. I still have a valid Emirates ID. How do I go about this? I was told that I may have a possible ban. Is this true, or is there a process around this? Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I paid money to a documents clearing company in Dubai to process a freelance visa for me. After receiving payment, they kept delaying and didn`t even start the process. Doubting their intentions, I have demanded a refund of my payment, which they are now delaying as well. They keep promising they will do it in a day or two but are not keeping their word. I have payment proof in the form of an invoice issued by them and proof of the refund request in a WhatsApp conversation, where they repeatedly say they will do it but have not followed through. How to handle delays in interest payments from an investment company?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, An investment company in Dubai has consistently been late with almost every payment of interest due every six months. They do not acknowledge that the payment is late, even though the certificate states that it will be paid on 10 May and 10 Nov each year from 2020 to 2025. The longest delay so far has been 26 days, with only one payment being 2 days early. They do not answer my calls or messages. The payment due on 10 Nov this year is still awaited as of 26 Nov. A friend borrowed money with interest and now refuses to repay. What to do?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, My friend asked me to give him a loan of 17,000 AED. He said he would give me interest. I was not aware at the time that interest is not allowed on private loans between individuals. For 5 years, he said he would pay me back but he hasn`t fulfilled his promise. I have only asked him to simply repay me back the principal amount and that I do not need any interest at this point. He kept stalling and finally, I was fed up with it and informed him I would file a case. Now he is angry and he threatened me that he will sue me back since interest on personal loans is not allowed. It is like he knew about all this from the start and manipulated me into this. I think his plan all along was to take a loan from me, offer me interest knowing it is not allowed, and then use that excuse to not repay it. Please tell me what I can do in this situation. Can the company pay my gratuity upon termination only for onsite service and skip my remote service?
Q: I worked for a company for 2 years and 2 months. For 8 months, I worked remotely under a contract governed by UAE law. The contract explicitly stated: "This contract is governed by and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the Emirate of Dubai and the United Arab Emirates." During this remote period, I accrued 25 days of vacation. After the remote work period, I relocated to Dubai with a new contract. This contract acknowledged my prior remote employment I worked onsite for the company for 18 months, after which they terminated my employment. Now, regarding my termination, I have two questions: 1. The company has mentioned that they will compensate me for the 25 days of vacation at the remote rate, considering that these vacation days were accrued during my remote work period. 2. They also informed me that I will not receive gratuity for the entire duration of my service but only for the onsite period (18 months) as I had two separate contracts.
