How can I lift an immigration ban to be able to process my new emplyment visa?
Hi Sir,
I am S. and I am facing a one-year labour ban (as per my knowledge, and the same is mentioned in the cancellation paper too).
Now I have a new offer with [-----] company in a free zone, but things were not processed because of this ban. They asked me for the immigration clearance.
How can I clear this?
My previous contract was under a limited term, so even the salary basis is not helping me.
From other sites, I came to know it is possible, but I still have no idea how.
Can you suggest a solution?

Dear Sir,
In this situation, your only available option is to submit a mercy request to the relevant government authority and await their response.
Should you require any legal assistance or further guidance, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone or via email.
Kind regards,

Dear S.,
Thank you for reaching out.
Regarding the one-year labour ban mentioned in your cancellation paper, since your new offer is from a Free Zone company, the ban typically does not apply to Free Zone employment, as Free Zones operate under different regulations than mainland companies.
However, if the Free Zone is asking for immigration clearance, it’s possible that your ban has also been registered at the immigration level, which can affect any new visa issuance.
Here’s what you can do:
Immigration Clearance Request:
You or your prospective employer can approach the relevant Immigration Authority (GDRFA in Dubai or ICA in other Emirates) to request a ban clearance or an exemption.
This is a standard process when hiring someone who may have a labour or immigration restriction.
NOC from Previous Employer (if possible):
If you can obtain a No Objection Certificate from your previous employer, it may help support the clearance process and show that there’s no objection to your re-employment.
Check Ban Type:
It’s important to confirm whether this is only a labour ban or also an immigration ban. Labour bans can often be bypassed for Free Zone employment, but immigration bans require formal clearance.
If you’d like assistance in reviewing your documents or submitting a formal clearance request, we can support you with that process.

If you're facing a one-year labor ban in the UAE under a limited-term contract, you may still be able to work with a free zone company, as free zones operate under different rules from the mainland.
However, not all free zones accept applicants with active labor bans, so it's important to confirm with the specific free zone authority. You should also contact MOHRE to verify the ban details.

Dear Inquirer,
Thank you for reaching out.
A one-year labor ban under a limited-term contract can sometimes be lifted, especially when moving to a free zone company, as free zones have separate rules from the mainland UAE.
However, immigration clearance may still be required depending on the reason for the ban and your visa history.
There are possible legal solutions, including applying for a ban exemption or handling it through proper representation with immigration authorities.
To evaluate your specific case and proceed effectively, we recommend that you book a legal consultation or authorize our office to act on your behalf to resolve the issue.
Best regards.
The company submits an application through the Immigration Department (GDRFA) or a facilitation center, along with:
- New job offer
- Your passport
- Certificate of educational qualifications
- Cancellation letter explaining the reason for the ban.
Hello,
Labour bans typically apply only to mainland companies regulated by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) and not to Free Zone entities.
However, Free Zone visa applications are still subject to immigration clearance, and in some cases, a ban may affect your ability to get a new visa unless an exemption is granted.
The best course of action is to ask the Free Zone company’s PRO or HR department to submit a request to immigration (through GDRFA or ICA) asking for clearance, explaining that you are joining a Free Zone and not a mainland company.
In many cases, immigration will approve such requests.
Dear Inquirer,
A one-year ban can be bypassed in certain cases according to UAE laws.
You can apply to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) to lift the ban if you meet the conditions, such as receiving a job offer from a free zone, or if there are exceptional circumstances.
If the previous contract was a limited-term contract, it.may be difficult to bypass the ban unless the authorities allow it in certain cases.
