How can a woman file for divorce and child custody due to domestic violence?
Q: A friend of mine is in a difficult situation. She has a child, but the child’s father has kicked her out of their room and taken custody of the child. The father is from Yeman. He has also been physically harming her—she has visible bruises—and has taken her Emirates ID and mobile phone, leaving her with nowhere to go, she has a job. Currently, she is staying with a friend and is not allowed to return to her room. Kindly request your advice on what steps she should take in this situation.

Dubai Court placed a hold on my account for another bank's case: what are my options?
Q: Hello, I received an SMS and email from A bank stating that my bank account is on hold as per a Dubai Court order. I only have AED 2,000 left in my account, which is for my treatment and medication because I have breast cancer. I lost my job last year and was unable to pay my personal loan installment with B bank. It was B bank that filed a case and a travel ban with Dubai Court. But how can Dubai Court put a hold on my A bank account, even though the case is with another bank (B bank)?

Q: I`m in a free zone company. I started my employment in June 2024 and they gave me a visa in August 2024. Now, I want to resign because my employer is always fighting with me. He said bad words to me and reduced my salary also from 3000 AED to 2500 AED because they said I was not doing my job well. I said to them I wanted to resign, but they said if I resigned, I have to pay 10,000 AED for the visa cost as per my offer letter. Help me with this, please

Can the wife lose the custody of her children due to a medical condition?
Q: I am a Hindu and my husband has filed for divorce in Dubai. We both stay in Dubai. He claimed for custody of our 11-month-old twins. The divorce is because of domestic violence and interference by his mother. I have had a history of epilepsy (a very rare occurrence) since 2011. I have been taking regular medication and working since 2011 as a teacher. The last time I had a seizure was in August 2023 when I was pregnant. No one was hurt although I fainted. My husband is claiming for the custody on these grounds. I have been staying with my kids, all by myself for the past 2 months. My husband has left me and my kids and stays somewhere else. I have worked in the US (2015-16) all by myself and have been working as a teacher in Dubai for 1.5 years. I have been driving in India since 2007 with no accidents or fines. My epilepsy has never affected my profession or lifestyle. I have been to different countries all by myself. Are there fair chances of me getting custody of my 11-month-old twins?+4

A bank has been restricting my account for 2 weeks now with no explanation: what can I do?
Q: Dear Lawyers, It’s been two weeks since a bank restricted my account (Debit only) without any notification or warning. My account status shows as active though. I have made countless calls, visited the branch 3 times, and raised a complaint (which was closed by the bank without resolving the issue) too but no response at all. They give the same reply every time whether you call the helpline or visit the branch. No one knows the reason why it’s restricted and every time it is the same reply: “Please wait, we have sent the reminder to the concerned department” from the last two weeks. I have no cases, no liabilities to pay, and have evidence of all the transactions carried out on my account. I just want to know what steps I can take to at least understand the reason behind the restrictions. It seems like the people working at that bank don’t even care. It’s really depressing how they have been treating their customer for the last two weeks.2024/11/11

Q: Dear Lawyers, On 6th October 2024, on the Telegram app, I was scammed for Rs 941,600. The scammers initially paid me small amounts of Rs 300 and Rs 100 for voting tasks and a welfare task in a group. They then demanded larger sums, stating that I could not skip these payments; otherwise, no withdrawals could be made. It all started two days earlier when I received a message on WhatsApp from someone claiming to be the HR manager of a company, offering an online part-time job. Q: Good day, I posted my case here about a bounced cheque. Now, the debtor has reached out, asking me to unblock him temporarily because his accounts have been frozen and his cars will be seized. He said he would handle it from his side. He has a history of making excuses, but I want to get paid as soon as possible.
