Dear Client,
Thanks for your question! I hope you are doing well. I will assist you in this matter.
In Dubai, landlords must provide a minimum 90-day notice before implementing any rent increase. This notice must be given prior to the lease renewal date.
For instance, if your lease ends on January 1st, the landlord should notify you of any increase by October 3rd at the latest.
This 90-day period allows tenants time to prepare financially, negotiate the increase, or explore other housing options.
If a landlord fails to provide this notice, tenants can legally reject the increase and maintain the current rent for another year.
It's crucial for tenants to document when they receive any rent increase notice to ensure compliance with this rule.
Thanks & Regards,

Hello,
Under Dubai Law No. (26) of 2007, as amended by Law No. (33) of 2008, a landlord must provide the tenant with at least 90 days' written notice before increasing the rent, unless a different notice period has been explicitly agreed upon in the tenancy contract.
The proposed rent increase must also comply with the guidelines set by the RERA Rental Index and Decree No. (43) of 2013, which regulates permissible rent increases in Dubai.
If the landlord fails to adhere to the agreed notice period or the 90-day requirement, or if the proposed increase exceeds the limits allowed by the RERA index, the tenant has the right to reject the increase and, if necessary, file a complaint with the Rental Dispute Settlement Centre (RDC).
