I am in a rental dispute with my landlord. What can I do if the landlord is not responding to settlement?

I am in a rental dispute with my landlord and last week the landlord told the judge he was willing to settle during the court session online, this week he is not replying to my emails to come up with a settlement plan.

Can I go to the RDC center this morning and come up with a payment plan directly with the Rental Dispute Centre?

We have another court session this afternoon at 4:00 PM and the judge has requested that we come up with a settlement plan before then.

A settlement must be reached with the owner. The settlement cannot be made without the consent of the owner.

If you have any other inquiries, contact us on the phone.

Hello,

You can visit the Rental Dispute Centre in person to discuss and possibly arrange a settlement plan.

If the landlord is still unresponsive or unwilling to engage in the process, you can inform the judge about this.

The judge may still proceed with the case, and the landlord could be ordered to comply with the terms set by the court.

You can't do that. In the session, tell the judge that he didn't respond to you.

Dear questioner

Since there is no response, it will be better to go directly with RDC to get a payment plan directly from the court.

If you need further clarification, kindly share your Whatsapp number.

Dear K.,

Thanks for your inquiry.

Regarding the above, we would like to inform you that, yes, you can go to the Rental Dispute Centre (RDC) this morning and try to come up with a payment plan directly with them.

However, it is important to note that the RDC may not be able to assist you with a settlement plan if the case is already in court.

It is best to consult with us as a legal advisor before going to the RDC to ensure that you have all the necessary documents and information to negotiate a settlement.

Additionally, you may also want to inform the judge during the court session this afternoon that you have attempted to come up with a settlement plan with the RDC.

Kindly do not hesitate to contact us by phone or email for further guidance.

Greetings

Yes, you can certainly visit the Rental Dispute Centre (RDC) to discuss a potential settlement plan with them.

The RDC is designed to help resolve rental disputes and facilitate amicable settlements between landlords and tenants.

They can provide guidance, and mediation services, and even propose potential settlement plans.

If you need further clarification, you may ask.

Hello K,

If the case has been referred for settlement, the conciliator at the Rental Dispute Centre should contact both you and the landlord to prepare a settlement agreement and present it to the judge at today’s hearing.

If no one has reached out to you, you may request an additional time extension from the judge.
