Greetings.

Emirati citizens can enjoy several benefits when working in the UAE's private sector. These benefits are driven by a government initiative called "Emiratisation" which aims to increase Emirati participation in the private workforce. Here are some key advantages:

Financial Incentives:

Competitive Salaries: The government encourages private companies to offer competitive salaries to Emirati employees.

Salary Support Schemes: Programs like "Nafis" provide financial support to companies that hire Emiratis, potentially reducing the salary burden for employers.

Gratuity: Emirati employees, like all UAE employees who meet service requirements, are entitled to receive gratuity payments upon termination or completion of their contract.

Career Development:

Training Opportunities: Government initiatives and some private companies offer training programs specifically designed to equip Emiratis with the skills needed to thrive in the private sector.

Career Advancement: With a focus on Emiratisation, Emirati employees might have better opportunities for career progression within private companies.

Job Security:

Emiratisation Targets: Companies are mandated to meet specific Emiratisation targets, creating a higher demand for Emirati workers in the private sector.

Reduced Layoff Risk: During economic downturns, Emirati employees might have a lower risk of layoffs compared to expatriate workers.

Additional Advantages:

Work-Life Balance: Some companies might prioritize work-life balance for Emirati employees, catering to cultural norms and family commitments.

Cultural Fit: Working in a private company with a diverse workforce can still offer a familiar cultural environment for Emirati employees.

It's important to note that these are general benefits, and the specific offerings might vary depending on the company and the employee's position.

Thank you for your detailed answer, Mr. Ahmed.

May I know how many annual leave days Emirati has per year?

25 Jun 2024, 06:26

As per the UAE Labor Law, Emirati employees in the private sector are entitled to an annual leave of 30 days for each year of service.

If an employee's service is terminated before he uses his annual leave balance, he will get leave for a fraction of the last year of service.

Conditions for availing annual leave:

Completion of six months of service with the employer.

The worker must be on the job on the day he becomes entitled to the leave or on the day preceding it.

The employer may not ask the worker to postpone his annual leave for more than one year.
