Landlord denied maintenance: Can they charge me for late notice of cancelation?
Hi,
Before my contract ended, I requested my landlord to perform maintenance on the flat as the cement on the ceiling was falling down, and the paint was peeling due to a high volume of mold.
However, they rejected my request, so we decided not to renew the flat. Now they are asking me to pay for two months due to late notice.
Initially, I did not plan to cancel, but due to the rejection of maintenance, we decided to move out.
Please advise me on what I should do.

Unfortunately, they have the right to request a fine for not notifying them of the legally specified date for unwillingness to renew.
You have the right to file a complaint in rental disputes for not maintaining the apartment.

Termination of the rental contract and repairs are two different subjects and should have been dealt with separately.
At the moment, you have the option to continue or give an adequate notice period to leave the premises, and if you continue to stay there, you may file a case for repairs.

You will have to follow the contractual terms. And since you did not inform them about leaving the property as per the terms of the contract, they asked you for 2 month's penalty.
