How to get my passport released if the employer holds it and asks for money?
Submitted a resignation letter to my employer, but he rejected claiming for AED 10,000 before he cancels my visa and gives me my passport (he is holding my passport).
10 months of working with him (already completed my 3 months probation).
There's also a breach of the contract:
1. Working not on the agreed hours (No overtime compensation paid).
2. Salary delay every month.
Any advice to take him on through the appropriate quarters to get my visa canceled and get back my passport?

What he is asking you is not legal, that's first of all.
Holding your passport in his hands is also not legal.
You can start with a complaint to the ministry of human resources then it will be converted to a case if it's not settled through them.
For further information, contact us on phone.

If your employer keeps your passport and refuses to return it to you, you can go to the nearest police station, or you can go to your embassy in the country to file a complaint.
Please be aware that you have all the necessary rights and privileges to have your own passport and you have all the rights to question your employer if your employer insists on keeping it with him.
