Ramadan work laws

I'm working in a 5-star hotel for more than 13 years in the engineering department.

Last 3 years engineering administration make my duty roster for 12 hours working schedule during Ramadan without any compensation.

Kindly advice me what type of legal action applicable to this illegal practice.

Dear Sir/Mam,

Despite that the UAE Labour Law must be implemented rigorously, some companies do try these practices, which in its true sense is illegal.

Article 65 of the Law provide that during Ramadan, 2 working hours shall be reduced from the normal work hours, for both Muslim and non-Muslim staff. This is a mandatory provision.

Furthermore, Article 67 and Article 68 provides for the compensation in case of overtime, that is, if an employee chooses to work overtime he can do it for a maximum of 2 hours and his employer can not ask them to work more time. If the employee chooses to work extra 2 hours he has to be paid an overtime of 25 per cent (%) of his basic salary per day for day time and 50% for night duty.

Perhaps, your case is time-barred, as there is a limitation period of 1 year to file such claim. So, you cannot claim your early two claims (1st & 2nd year), but still, you can proceed to file your third claim (3rd year). Please be reminded that this third claim will expire at the end of this Ramadan 2017.
