In my final judgement, my penalty is AED 10,000. Last year, during amnesty, since I couldn't pay the 10,000 AED (I am a single mother with a 2-year-old baby), I decided to surrender at the police station. Because I have a court fine, they refused to take me and sent me to the Sharjah police. When I went there, I told the officer in charge that I couldn't pay and that I wanted to serve jail time and be released once I completed the required days. The officer did not accept me and sent me to apply for an instalment plan. However, my instalment application was rejected; they said instalment payments are not being accepted at the moment and that the order came from the Abu Dhabi court. Now I am really hopeless and feel I cannot live here anymore.

What should we do if, after filing a complaint with MOHRE, the company has already paid all our salaries? Do we still need to report to work? Should we submit a resignation to avoid being tagged as absconded, or what would be the best solution? Because, for us as employees, we don’t want to go back to work after what happened.

I would like some advice. Someone has been deported from the UAE after serving 1.5 years in jail for a drug case and has a lifetime travel ban.  Does this ban remain only in the UAE, or is it applicable to other GCC countries such as KSA, Qatar, or Oman? Additionally, is there a way to remove this travel ban in the UAE when a person's family is still based in the UAE? If yes. What’s the procedure?

Despite being a consistent top performer with many years of experience, I was rejected for a promotion that was instead given to someone with less experience and weaker performance. When I asked for feedback, I was given contradictory and false reasons, including being told that HR rejected me based on “how I sat in the interview,” even though it was an audio-only call. I was also told that promotions are not based on performance but on whether I had the “manager’s blessings.” In addition, I have observed: - Promotions are repeatedly going to people from the same community or close to managers. - Most of the management team belongs to one community. - Shift schedules are being changed after release to favor certain individuals. This has created a toxic environment with no fair career growth opportunities. My question is, under UAE labor law, do I have grounds to challenge this type of favoritism?

I had a loan & credit cards in the UAE, and during my vacation, I lost my job. I still paid the installments, but  I couldn’t find a job for one year. I left and am now getting a job in Bahrain. I want to clear my loans in the UAE because it’s been two years. Can I easily travel to Bahrain, or is it a problem, as it is a GCC country? And how can I ask the bank to waive the interest amount? I really need to clear off the debt with banks at the earliest now.

Hello, We hired a live-in domestic worker under a 2-year visa and contract/sponsorship through one of the Tadbeer companies. However, after her visa was issued, her performance dropped, and issues started arising. We invested in training her to ensure her performance; instructions and schedules were posted. All documented evidence and even improvement letters were signed by her. But it escalated into continuous repeated mistakes and negligence of duty, with risks to childcare safety, breach of privacy, and she admitted to falsifying her CV and other facts. A few days ago, she refused to work. We informed the agency, and they documented the case as refusal and abandonment for the first 2 days. They advised us to relieve her from childcare duties, which we did immediately. She kept refusing other duties. Then the agency reached out, saying she cannot be forced to work, and she left. I am confused about employer rights: is this considered resignation (with nothing written), or breach? The office says no need, as they are her sponsor, and no notice is needed to us either.

Dear Sir/Madam, I need help, please! My brother was arrested in a car for possession of only 2g of drugs. The police charged him with possession and usage in Umm Al-Quwain. The transaction amount was only 400. But my brother did not have any possessions; he had only borrowed money. Another charge is that he helped a friend use drugs, but he did not help anyone.
