Q: Hello,
Which date is considered the official start date for employees in a company: is it the date stamped by MOHRE on the contract, or the date the residence visa is issued?
Additionally, which date should we use to begin calculating the end-of-service benefits?
Is it mandatory to provide written notice of termination for employees after their contract ends, especially if the company does not intend to renew the contract?

س: عزيزتي السيدة راجاسري،
أنا أعمل لدى شركة خاصة في إمارة دبي بموجب عقد غير محدد المدة. أحتاج إلى التوضيح بشأن راتب الإجازة ومستحقات نهاية الخدمة.
بدأ عقد العمل الخاص بي بتاريخ 02/07/2020 لكن الشركة تواصلت معي لبدأ العمل بتاريخ 01/09/2020. كنت عاطلاً عن العمل لمدة شهرين. في الوقت الحالي، أنهت الشركة خدمتي في 01/07/2021 بعد تقديم إشعار مدته شهر واحد ينتهي في 31/07/2021 بسبب وضع العمل السيئ.
سؤالي الآن هو؛ ما هو التاريخ الذي يجب أن أضعه في الاعتبار عند حساب مستحقات نهاية الخدمة وراتب الإجازة؟
تقول الشركة أن جميع الحسابات ستكون من تاريخ الانضمام للعمل.
أرجو التوضيح في هذا الصدد.

Q: Hello,
I joined a company in March and worked for one month on a visit visa. Later I exited the UAE and came back on April by employment permit. My visa was processed in the month of June and the date of residence visa as stamped is June 18.
I want to know, which period will be calculated for my probation confirmation? Will it be April or June or March itself?
Moreover, if I am to resign now, will I face an employment ban? I am ready to serve the notice period for 45 days but will I get paid for the same period? If the company is relieving me of my notice period by reducing days, do I have to pay money to the company?
Please suggest me a solution as I'm looking for a job change.

I have filed a cheating case in the Dubai Misdemeanor Court (initial complaint at Raffa Police Station).
Hearings have not yet started. I now have credible information that the accused plans to dispose of his business to avoid repayment.
I want to file, within the same criminal case:
- A petition to freeze the transfer/sale of the business.
- A petition for civil recoverability through the criminal proceedings.
Please advise on the process and whether the court accepts such requests.

How can I refund the deposit I paid to a car dealer if the receipt stated it is refundable? 0
Dear all,
I’m seeking legal advice regarding a refundable deposit of AED 1,000 paid to a car trading company around a year ago while considering the purchase of a used car.
The receipt clearly states the deposit was refundable at the time of purchase, but I ultimately did not proceed with buying a car from them.
Despite numerous follow-ups over the past year, I have not received any refund or official response.
Today, a representative informed me that the deposit is non-refundable if no car is purchased, which contradicts what is written on the receipt.
I would appreciate guidance on:
- Whether I have a legal claim based on the receipt wording
- What steps can I take to recover the amount through legal or consumer protection channels

I have a rental dispute judgment against me to vacate, but the landlord is not fullfilling his obligations. What to do? 0
Hi
I have a real estate rental dispute.
1) My rental dues have been wrongly quoted, and the same has to be corrected with the court and then paid off. I had taken it up with the landlord, but the Landlord's legal department and property manager are just not responding
2) I had been given a decision from the court to clear my items and hand over the custody of the flat, but the Landlord did not adhere to the court order, due to which the eviction happened.
3) The Landlord had paid some amount to the Court for the Items and now had reached out for payment to allow me to take the items.
I have paid the amount to his account directly, but he has now appointed an auction house to auction the items.
I have to take immediate action to stop the same and allow me to obtain the items or claim compensation.

The employers are delaying my experience letter intentionally. What can I do? 0
Dear Respected Lawyers,
I need advice.
I have worked in a company for 6 years. After 4 years of leaving that company, I need a detailed experience letter mentioning my position at that time, with duties.
As per the labor law, can I get it or not, or how?
I have to submit this letter to the Ministry of Labor in the UAE to prove that my duties are matching with my visa.
The employers are not responding to my emails or even calls; they are purposefully delaying it so that I cannot get my new job.
