Q: I am holding a resident visa from Dubai mainland company, which is acting more like a platform for freelancers. Is it possible for me to start working on one of the free zone companies, but still hold my current visa? (I assume it can be some part-time labour contract or full-time if possible).

Dividing company loan between partners

Q: My civil company has 2 partners. Both are 50% of the shares. Our company lost a court case and has to pay AED 200,000 to the creditor. The creditor started an execution case. Questions: A) Can I pay my 50% share (AED 100.000) and ask for my name to be cleared from the case (then the execution case will only be between the creditor and the other partner, for the remainder of AED 100.000)? Or that is not allowed while the civil company is still in existence? B) Is it possible to liquidate the company and then the execution lawsuit will be broken into two parts (Part 1: Creditor and partner 1 for AED 100,000, Part 2: Creditor and partner 2 for AED 100,000). Consequences of early termination of a limited contract by the employee

Q: What are the consequences of breaching a limited contract with both notice period and compensation? Do the employee have to serve the notice period and pay compensation?

Q: With respect. I got a job offer in one medical center as I am a registered nurse when I was in India. So I travelled to Dubai on a 3-month visit visa; the company asked me to take a 3-month visit visa. Immediately after my arrival in Dubai, I called my company & I have submitted all the documents which are necessary for the visa process. the company activated my license before I arrived in Dubai but I found there were no updates regarding visas. Then I found a new job offer. I informed my present company that I wanted to move from here as I got a new job. Initially, they agreed to that. When I asked them to cancel my license from their company they said I need to refund for them my visa, which they have started already. but I have not signed any labour contract other than an offer letter. They are not willing to cancel my license. I am still on a visit visa. My visa is near to expire, and before that, I need to join a new company but my license got hanged with the previous company.

Filing a complaint against a doctor due to misdiagnosis of a life-threatening condition

Q: I was treated for a collapsed lung in May 2019 at a hospital in Al Ain. I was told that I had a spontaneous pneumothorax. In January 2020, I was treated for a second collapsed lung. I went to the first hospital to get a medical report. The report said that there was evidence of a rare cystic lung condition, Lymphangioleiomyomatosis. I got my biopsy results from the lab and saw that they had tried to inform the doctor but no contact was able to be made. I then asked the doctor why I hadn`t been told about it and she shrugged and said that they told her it was nothing. I asked: "do you know the rare, life-threatening, cystic lung condition?", she said: "of course yes!" I am now suffering from poor oxygen diffusion symptoms, agonizing lung pain, requiring oxygen therapy, and will be starting medication to hopefully slow the progress of the condition. If I had known earlier, I could already be on the medication to give me a better quality of life. What will I achieve by laying a complaint?

How to pursue a retail group to clear all dues after its closure?

Q: I have been supplying goods to a popular retail group in the UAE. They had retail shops in almost all the malls in the UAE. Recently, they ceased operations and closed down all their shops. I have pending payments to collect from them as well as we have a lot of stock lying at their closed down shops. How can I pursue them legally to clear all my dues and take the stocks back? Showing a fake ID to a police checkpoint

Q: Hello sir, My brother came here to Dubai on a visit visa, but somehow he lost his passport and ID somewhere. He was given an ID by a driver to show to the police. He was told that if he shows this driver`s ID to the police, they are going to leave him, otherwise, he will get deported. He got scared and showed the police checkpoint a fake ID widout knowing any rules. Now, he is in jail waiting for the court`s order. What will happen now? My family is struck by load of burdens. How to defend against a false abuse case?

Q: My sister had registered a threat and abuse case against a person in Qusais Police Station, Dubai. Yesterday, we met that guy by chance and he was again abusing us with his wife in his car. We got out of our car and asked him why he is doing that! He ran away in his car. Today, I received a call from the police station that his wife has made a complaint against me that I threatened her and stopped her car on road to attack her. She is claiming that the car was driven by another guy. In reality, the car was driven by her husband who is wanted by Dubai police for a case by my sister. Now, they have submitted their car to Qusais police station to launch a fake case on us. They are doing this to create pressure so that my sister withdraw the case against her husband. Can his wife register such a case against me?

Getting a document stating why a person is unable to obtain a police certificate

Q: It`s been 4 years since I exited the UAE & have unpaid debts. I am aware of the debt and that there`s a bounced cheque case against me from the collection emails I still receive. It had prevented me from obtaining a police certificate from the UAE as I tried online and in-person by authorizing a friend a while ago. I am in the process of immigrating and I was asked to provide a police certificate from the UAE. It is not criminal to be in debt where I reside but since there`s a police case against me due to unpaid debts and I can`t get a police certificate from the UAE, at least I need to provide a document/letter "whatever the term is" stating why I am unable to obtain a police certificate from the UAE. I appreciate you providing me with information on how do I obtain such a document "reasons why I am unable to obtain a police certificate" and who will be able to do such a thing. Responsibility for a rental loan of the company after issuing a cheque from the personal checkbook

Q: I am named a defendant in a RERA rental case for a commercial case. The tenancy is in the name of and signed by the local partner. The premise is used by the company in which I am one of the partners. At the time of leaving the premise, there were arrears on rent for which I issued PDCs from my personal checkbook. They bounced as I had difficulty in keeping up with the payments. Am I liable in this RERA case as one of the defendants when I am not the signatory on the tenancy nor the responsible manager of the company?

A landlord asks a tenant to vacate a villa to sell it

Q: Hello, I have a disagreement with my landlord. We rented a villa in Dubai for one year and before only one month of the end of our tenancy contract, the landlord asked us to vacate and informed us that he is not willing to renew because he is selling the villa. We have a clause in the contract that: The tenant and the Land Lord have to submit in advance 60 days` written notice before the expiry of the tenancy contract for vacating or renewal of the tenancy contract. We did not express our intention to renew before 60 days from the expiry of the contract but we did after he asked us to vacate. I tried a lot of times to convince my landlord to renew because he needs to send 12 months evicting notice for selling and also he did not send the non-renewal rental before 60 days. I would like to know my rights please and if I go to the rent committee, would I win the dispute? Thank you very much!
